I made a small video of the current stuttering problem. Most people have it in 200 i think.
<a href="http://youtu.be/CxNJ2e_DfpI" target="_blank">http://youtu.be/CxNJ2e_DfpI</a>
Seems to be an issue with the sound, like the profiler show.
To use profiler:
Open console and type "profile"
If you press space after spikes appear, you can navigate with [ and ] to the spike and see what happened in that moment.
Please post your specs and a screenshot of the profiler (after navigating to an spike) to help hunting this stuttering down.
I have 3 soundcards installed. On everyone the same stuttering.
XFi
USB-Headset from Logitech
Build in Soundcard of ATI-Card
My specs:
i5 2500k@4,3 ghz, ati 5870@default, xfi

So, here is a small workaround:
Donwload this file: <a href="http://www.fmod.org/index.php/release/version/fmodapi44103win-installer.exe" target="_blank">http://www.fmod.org/index.php/release/vers...n-installer.exe</a> and install it.
Make an backup of your fmodex.dll in your NS2 folder and replace it with the file from above (C:\Program Files (x86)\FMOD SoundSystem\FMOD Programmers API Windows\api)
Now you can play wihout sound and stutterfree. Take no care of "missing sound file" spam in console. This is normal then ;)

Before B199: 50~60
Before B200: 5(in cave)~60
After:80~100fps
specs: i7 2600k@default ATI 6870@980Mhz
Just rename the ambient_4.fsb in ..\natural selection 2\ns2\sound
Have fun

This file contains bite sound of skulk. Another approach I'm trying:
AmbientSound.lua, Effect.lua and DSPEffects.lua. Leave the functions as is, comment the code inside. Maybe it's placebo, but I think it's better now.
Pre build 200 I had around 40-60 FPS at 2560x1440, with this patch I have similar FPS while in the ready room but as soon as I join any team it drops down to what
I estimated to be <1 FPS... I just tried this sound fix and it didn't help at all.
Is there something else I should be trying?
It was just me being retarded, had an old mod that I forgot about installed which seemed to screw up the game.
Removing it fixed the problem :P
The game runs like Win 3.1 if I don't walk in a new Powergrid. Couldn't really find anything special on the Profiler beside the normal spikes.
Not only is the stuttering gone, but the game never ran so fast and smooth for me before. Wow!

replacing it with?
It's true, I'm working with old sounds files.

that dll killed all the sound for me. FRAPS fps recordings:
<a href="http://www.abload.de/image.php?img=ns2fxmodxzkcc.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://www.abload.de/thumb/ns2fxmodxzkcc.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" /></a>
no difference even with sound killed.
(ASUS P8P67 WS Revolution ALC889 real 5.1 onboard)
I can't wait!
Awesome!!!
