Marine and Alien idea

I know beta is beta, im not here to QQ about Hit regs fps drop
or getting glitched between wall and stairs... etc

Anyway I post this as In my opinon, Marines are underpowered
compared to aliens. I have won differnt maps as both Alien and marine.I have also played commander
on both sides,and i understand That this game has a very step learning curve. for new players
and certain ablity are not out for both marines and aliens, as they have the "coming soon" stamp on them anyways to improve
gameplay slightly and increase abit more balance in my opinion to the game here is my list with the reasons.


In my opinion this is what should be changed / added

1#Increase Marine rifle damage by a small amount.

The damage on the starting rifle isnt terrible at the start,
as it can take down a Skulk in a few hits to the head, but
as the game progresses and aliens start evloveing into
Bigger creatures with more "perks" the rifle seems all
pretty useless, especially against Fade with carapace
In my personal experiance i have shot the Fade with
level 3 weapon upgrade with a rifle in the back while he was afk,
he was afk and it took around 80 bullets to take him down.



2#Add a 5-10 second cooldown on aliens Fade jump ablity.

I loved playing the Fade in this it was so much fun
Phasing around people, clawing them to death, although it was
fun to slaughter hopeless marines i found the ablity abit to over powered the ablity to
hold mouse 2 down and sprint from room to room invisible, and then pop out behind marines
and 2 to 6 [Depending on armor] hit them seemed slightly very unfair to the marines, i figured adding
a cooldown to this ablity will give marines a chance to aim and fire,before they get slaughted

3#Add additnal skins for marines.

Just the idea that everyone doesn't look would be nice although, its not a
real concern would just be fun to see :D


I know, this game is about teamplay If you work as a team, Go room by room
with 5 or 6 marines or aliens it is pretty easy to clear out aliens or marines,
aslong as you have the commander on either side upgrading equipment etc.

    I think your opinions are a bit biased, or ignoring the actual reality of gameplay compared to the gameplay you're personally experiencing.

    Sounds like you're missing.
    10 Bullets kills a skulk, that means you have four chances a clip to kill one. (that means you can kill any skulk is roughly half a second if you're not terrible at aiming)

    - Later on in the game, you're supposed to progress to shotguns (2 shots from shotgun kills a fade) flamethrowers and ect. Or even just get damage upgrades via commander. Mind you marine damage ALREADY scales up as the game progresses.

    It's already got a cooldown via energy, also single marines aren't supposed to be able to kill a single fade. The marine is a unit that spawns for free, the fade costs 50 personal res. That means you can only fade 2-3 times a game.

    1 for 1 power levels would just make fade value less, stick together with other marines and you won't die as often to fades.

    Have you ever played as a skulk late game? same thing right there and it seams pretty fair. You said that you had problems with higher lifeforms but ofcourse they spent res to get those lifeforms while you got that rifle just for free. I think there is no need for a damage increase on the rifle.

Honestly I think we have the weakest fade in NS history right now. And as Kama Blue said a singel rifle marine is not supposed to be toe to toe with a fade.

    Some people got the black armor but I don't think that there will be any more skins. unless a good designer in the modding community is interested to do some modeling. However I don't want NS2 to become a dress up game. See: Halo Reach.

    As you said NS2 is about teamplay even for the aliens. It might look like they are doing everything by themselves but there is need of coordination to take down a group of marines (Unless you are Endar)
    And oh welcome to the forums and hope you will spend several more hours into NS2 :D
