Some things i expect for NS2 artistically

<div class="IPBDescription">artistic aspect</div>NS2 is really artistic game as everyone knows. But i have found some flaws on it, regardsless of if it's only for me.
So i write some things i would like to expect for future NS2 as artistic aspect.

In NS1, and some wallpapers of NS2, hive looks really overwhelming, and important, as it's really bigger than marines and hanging up there high.
But now, as there is tech-poin-system on NS2, it looks never so important or overwhelming. Just looks like just cutie orange ball that is easy to deal with.

I actually cannot assume how devs would deal with this or even concerning about this, but i think it's needed to maximize/adjust size and atmosphere nearby the hive.

Yeah same image. You can see there some tiny creatures around hive. Those things are already far before implemented as tiny yellow insects actually. But they don't give any better atmospheres yet as they are too tiny. I hope they are still placeholders, but if not, their size should be adjusted.

And they look like drifter, or maybe real drifter. So i would like to see them as a baby-drifter and if one of those tiny things wandering around becomes bigger and be a real drifter one when commander produces drifter.

I couldn't find the image, but you can see one of concept arts of hive in green room which has some transparent eggs around.
I would rather see those eggs in the future than current pink eggs(regardless of transparency)




p.s. Some uncomfortable and ill-humored effect near the hive, which would cause stuffy dizziness for marine players(nearby hive), would be nice.

Is those things i mentioned already work-in-progress?? I ask you because most of them are concept-arted.

    I guess the Hive is brought down so the Axe becomes a viable weapon against it, and also to accommodate the broken Tech Point animation. I wouldn't mind a higher height, however.

    Bigger hives are bigger targets though... And most likely there will be more atmosphere around hives in the end, I certainly hope so :)

    While we'd love to have the Hives be much larger and more impressive, it just causes too many issues with gameplay, some of which has been mentioned in this thread. It also becomes very restrictive for the mappers, to require every techpoint room be large enough to accommodate a Hive model of that size, and large open areas then become problematic for gameplay.

    We do still want to add more atmosphere around the Hives and in Hive rooms eventually.

    The glowing small drifters that are an effect around the Hive could possibly be increased in size, slightly, but again we want to make sure to distinguish between the drifters that the commander can interact with, and the ones that are there purely for the visuals.

    Regarding eggs and transparency, we will be adding transparency into the game, hopefully fairly soon here, so the eggs, and many of the other alien structures will end up looking quite different.

    I know that but i mean another full-transparent egg which is drawn on concept-art. You can check it while loading server.

    Pink-colored egg doesn't seem to be fit on alien atmosphere, that's what i say.

    Yeah that's true, as there is no more hive-point but tech-point for both.

    I've been thinking that those are incubators/cocoons in that concept art, but I agree with you about the pink eggs (as nostalgic as they are from NS1, and iconic as victory eggs :P)
