Escape key when trying to clear chat text

<div class="IPBDescription">Not sure if bug or feature...</div>When I type something in chat and then change my mind, I hit escape to clear the chat. This clears the chat (which is what I want), but it also brings up the menu (which has killed me). I'd rather have escape clear just the chat, and if I really want the menu, I'll hit escape a second time to bring the menu up.

Escape to clear the entire chat....... Seems legit.

Hitting Esc while typing should only clear the chat, not bring up the menu.

Related, if you open the Steam Overlay (shift+tab) and then hit escape to go back to the game, it opens the game menu.
