I would think theres a fairly good possibility be able to provide NZ hosting (as local traffic isn't such a killer for fibre etc...) Could possibly squeeze some hosting from somewhere too with a bit of luck. Someone needs to know someone who owns a DC?? unfortunately i suspect most of the players are aus... *sigh* cant win here
edit: do you think it actually needs hosting in a DC, presume as long as you get the internet connection (OK, that part looks like it might need to be "business grade", aka central) you can host it at home ;)
Does anyone know actual traffic usage per hour on the server?

Thanks Tempset that's very helpful for sizing the connection needed.
An unlimited 8 mbps connection sounds like the best option for 3 servers. I will request pricing this week to see if I can get this cheap using a vlan over an existing work connection.
$592 NZD p/month is the price I could get off market elsewhere so hopefully I can get this well down...
I ran a dedicated server on my DSL link today for a couple of games, with 1 mbit upload we could get up to 8 players stable, but after the 9th joined we hit network lag. Server tick rate was a steady 30 with the 4.4 ghz CPU (and me running ns2 on the same PC)
Given this, I have applied with my ISP to get Annex M on my line, which will hopefully bring me to at least 2 mbit upload, which should mean I can sustain a single server with 12 players (this is what Alchemy can do currently).
The increased upload is taking a while to go through - probably because of the Easter holidays. But hopefully I can have everything up and running this week for us to test out next weekend.
Just had a play on the IPGN server. HUGE increase in performance. Still lags a tiny bit towards the top end, but overal it is the best we have so far and supports 18 players.

If they reduced the slots to like 16, it'd probably be optimal.

Agreed, does anyone know a way to contact the admins?

they responded saying they'll change it to 16 next restart.

<img src="http://i.imgur.com/wpmXZ.png" border="0" class="linked-image" />
In total, 1.32 TB of data was used during the month which averages out to about 43 GB of bandwidth per day.
On a per hour basis this is about 1.8 GB of bandwidth both in and out for all 3 servers.
On a per server per hour basis running at 18 slots it is roughly 600 MB of bandwidth.
On a per slot per hour basis it is approximately 33.3 MB.
On a per slot per minute basis it is approximately .555 MB / 555 KB.
On a per slot per second basis it is approximately 9.25 KB.
Hope these numbers help you out.
Well, best I could ever do is about 200gb/month on Telstra (aka fast-ish upload, low latency)
thatd be a good $200...
Im running at qc 3.5ghz which I havent had a chance to test with enough players to check, but looks like the internet might be the killer, either way.
Again, we (NZers) might be best to simply cap to NZ traffic :( that would be cheaper, and free traffic within NZ. But sucks for the aussies :(

think its hte 1.32TB a month thing that will cause issues for us.
