no one knows how good the game is
I know this kinda should go in the E-team forums, but I've been looking around at some various popular game websites(gamespot, g4, ign, etc.) that people go to for info on the latest games. And sadly, most of the time when I dig up their so called "page" for NS2, all I ever find is out of date info, and sometimes just the original dynamic infestation video from LONG AGO. They don't say the game is available to pre-order, play, or anything. I think I only found one site that even had a link to the Gorilla video, which is so sad, cause this game's best moments have been just before and since that amazing patch.
My cry for alarm is this, they don't know the game is PLAYABLE and even has 90% of the end game features in and ready for release this summer!
So I say this, we all need to go tell these so called "game" sites and tell them that NS2 is here, and it's going to compete with the big AAA titles for gamers' eyeballs this year.
Lets get the word out!

I'm sure that closer to release, UWE will really ramp up the publicity, as they have so much good material to use.

I think that is an incredibly selfish and bad attitude and if that is the way UWE felt they wouldnt be at PAX right now. Getting new players on board allows for new ideas and change in the positive and the updating these pages will get it known and players KNOW it is a beta so anyone with half common sense knows to be patiant. The openess of the game development is what is allowing it to be made into such a great game. Not to be an "exclusive" to the lucky few veterans.

If you mean http://www.naturalselection2.com/, they changed the site some month ago after we complained it out of date.
Its only a beta by name, what we are currently playing is an alpha. Which is fine, but players who aren't already dedicated to the franchise could be put off. Gamers are fickle enough as is. Though I'm sure it is UWE's intention to get as many beta players as possible, I was just giving my own view of the situation.
Something EXO or Shift I hope :P
No. The game in its current state should not be released to the reviewers, simply because they will pick up on the performance issues. If the game gets a reputation as having performance issues, many players without high end computers will stay away. That's pretty undesirable.

Love the game, want it to succeed....however, In the eyes of a non-fan, the performance issues and bugs will just stand out and make the player react in a negative way. As well as bad word of mouth.
When is the game gonna be ready IMO? When you can connect to ANY server with a ping under 100 and actually play without lag. I've joined a lot of servers with 80 MS and its unplayable, that's why I stick to the inversion servers.
That's what I think they should focus at the moment...performance and performance ONLY. Balance the game later...
