"The world's largest trade fair and event highlight for interactive games and entertainment" according to their own words. I'm sure the Euro community would step in to help you.

Also I read some where that gamescom had over a quarter million vistors last year :)

As I've said in another thread I'll love to see UWE go to gamescom aswell, now that they have some experience it could even be better whilst introducing some new challanges. I just hope it would not be to oexpensive for them (assuming the entire team would go the cost for the flight alone may be ~6000$).

Considering the gamescom is some time in mid august I suppose the game would also be pretty close to release by then, so going for the con might help having a good start :)

going to europe sounds way to expensive and time consuming, you would need a fundraiser just to get them there, because i doubt they could do that on their own. you might want to ask some european game magazines if they are willing to invite them, are there any major magazines in the uk, france or germany with enough dosh to pull something like that off? you would have to bring as less stuff as possible with you, like organizing booth machines from alienware europe, having all the material already there in place to build a booth--- it might be better to hire some event agency to prepare the location, they have these easy transportable booths.
sounds like a pretty massive undertaking.

it would be easier if you get some major game magazine as sponsor on board, they could organize a similar setup like you had on pax for you on their booth, letting them plaster their logo all over the place, giving them some exclusives like (supposing ns2 is that far to be close to released at that date) access keys valid for a week for their next issue.. if you have to, but it enables uwe just having to show up there, with no additional work involved except getting the machines ready, and do the PR work
