Time to be the killjoy, that isn't the first time exosuit related things appeared on the progress task. Just like how the Onos was appearing months before he actually was patched in.

if they want a summer release they won't have the months to wait.

Yup, the exo has been around in the dev build for a while, just disabled because while the model is ingame and largely working, there are major bugs with it still and lots of missing stuff. UWE almost tried to get it in for PAX but it would have meant too much work in too little time and almost certainly would have resulted in a much buggier and unbalanced build being played at PAX.
So yeah, just because you see Exo tasks showing up doesn't mean it will be in the next release, chances are there will need to be lots of testing done on it for bugs and balance issues before it gets released properly.

Yeah, pretty much this, its freakin' cool and really will give marines a counter to the onos (not just in firepower but in physical appearance too).

I say marines should be able to buy this type of armor or also exo suits.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
thats actualy a good idea.. marines having to buy the researched armor upgrade, and making their armor level actualy visible.... since aliens have to "buy" their armor upgrade aswell, even though a visual indication of carapace would be neat
The level of exosuit related discussion and work has indeed increased in recent days. So far, Bicsum with post #10 is the closest to the look we are going for!
It's a bit of a shame that they decided to make "Aliens vs colonial marines" just as NS2 is coming out. I think they plan to use THE alien exo suit as well.
I think that's putting a bit of pressure on the dev's to differentiate their exo from the one in the film (more to look different, i'm sure they're fine legally)

If anyone's being pressured it's the Gearbox team. The Alien games haven't exactly been great.
