<div class="IPBDescription">From Pub to Competitive</div>I wanted to share this idea with the general NS community because i need all of your help. I have posted in <a href="http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns2/forums/index.php?showtopic=118012" target="_blank">NS Competitive Play</a> but i think posting here will get more exposure.
Group Ascension ^A^ is here for two reason.
1. Recruit anyone willing to learn and help them bridge the gap between Public Play and Competitive Play.
2. Create somewhere any clan leader can go to recruit.
My goal is to have a constantly changing team who will scrim anyone and practice often. This is where i need all of your help. I would like to set up "Captains" for teams in each region, but for now it will be just me. What i need from the community is to spread the word. If you are in a Public server and see someone who is interested in competitive play send them our way. I also invite all clan leaders and their members to join the Steam Group and keep an eye on our roster. You can recruit from us <i>anytime</i> with no hurt feelings. This is my purpose, to see each member find a home in a clan.
<a href="http://steamcommunity.com/id/RisingSun1223" target="_blank">My Steam ID</a>
<a href="http://steamcommunity.com/groups/NS2Ascension" target="_blank">Steam Group</a> (All clan leader will have admin, join so i can add you)
I do have a special request from those clans that have players who excel at this game. I would LOVE if i could get some of your time to show up and teach us how you do what you do. If you dont like talking in front of groups or teaching, I would love to learn from you and pass it on. If that is too much of a commitment send me a PM with tips and tricks you find to work in competitive play. Anything helps!
Think of this as the NS2Learn Competitive version. If anyone is interested in joining the "Staff" let me know. I need this awesome NS community to make this happen. Since this is more of a group and not official clan anyone is free to join. The tag is added to the end of an in-game name so it wont impede on clan tags.

This is pretty cool idea. I wish all luck to you with this project. I hope you will find staff and members to get more momentum and have frequent matches. I'm happy to see this kind of work being done in order to grow the ns2 competitive scene.
I will join your steam group and keep an eye on your roster hoping to find some great players to fulfill the current and future recruitment needs of Archaea.
I'm also ready to help to get you started. We're up for playing against you, as well as sharing tips and knowledge.
Just let me know if you have an idea how I could help.
Good luck!

Awesome, thank you so much =)
I'm not very good at the game compared to proper competitive players, but would love to help out. Atm the skulk bite registration is such that I'm not really planning on playing til next patch, but I'll add you to steam and see if you either need merc players, or other help.
Essentially it is a gather group, but with everyone on the team being recruittable. I love the competitive scene and know how hard it is to take the leap and get in. Think of us as a place to refine your gamer resume =)
I will also eventually develope a repport with all clan leaders and br able to reccomend players to fit their inviduals needs. (good fade, good comm, ok player to devlope (perma gorge) ). I have many ideas as to what this will grow into and lofty goals. =) stay tuned.
What about "he is an incredibly nice guy with a great smile." Why can't I ever get recruited for that?
In most of the clans I've co-lead (I hate leading by myself) and been in, being a nice guy (or gal) has been the number one pre-requisite, though for important matches there was an understanding that the best teamplayers/skilled players would play.
That said, while we did participate in the competitive scene, we were never so e-penis centered as the really competitive clans. We played competitively to get good, fun, team oriented games, which are hard to get on publics.

I will be in Florida as of May 6th. I can head up the US Team if we can get a "Captain" for each region. If not i will mix and match and use who we get. Let me know from those above who are interested if you want to be recruitable or a permanent member =) (again you can be in a clan and still be apart of this. Take Lance for example. If he joined it would look like this: Sr.Lance^A^ )
Great Rider! Your situation is mine plus some. I totally understand and this is why i am requesting help. I want to get 3-4 core "instructors" so one of us can always be there and organize guest star appearances cough Fana cough. But we will see. With enough help we can have 3 teams. One for each region =D
In the next week or so i am going to be messaging each clan leader and get a set of expectations they have out of a new recruit and what they would include in a "Basic Training" course. I will then take all this info and compile a standard curriculum of what will be taught and we can add from there. Might be silly to get this serious about it all, but i want to do this right. Would love to see Ascension region scrims. NA vs Euro vs Ausie. One day... One day. =)
Fana could use a few pointers you are right.
We will announce when we have a quest teacher and allow for spectators. I am with you though, i will be learning more than the actual members =) Throw on the tag to help support us and see more events as we grow (maybe if we get big enough UWE will help us out with icons like the old NSLearn guys =) pipe dream, i know). Tane is another one i would love to learn from, human aim bot.

HAHA.
Kudos for the effort, Rising. I remember farm teams in NS1 getting a lot of new players into competitive play, some of which even becoming top players after a while.

Thanks =) can we count on Professor Fana to make an appearance? haha
Or Professor MuYeah. Who is the best comm in game right now *grin*?
As stated above the "tag" goes at the end of the players name as to not interfere with clan tags and it also allows people to support us AND be apart of a clan at the same time. To keep bias out of this and make sure everything is on the up and up i will never join a clan. As the lead i will be handling the recruiting of our players and getting the word out when players are ready. I have some ideas how to make this work but first i need to get this Group off the ground =) Again, thank you all for the support so far.
[Rest of post redacted - answered my own questions.]
MERC GUILD YERRRRRRR!
:D
And Good luck :).
Might expand into that if we are successful =)
#NS2Learn =)
I'm in already (before the post ;)) If someone want to be my "teacher"? (Europe time)
Thank you all for this project!
