Need Tips For Attacking As Skulk

I can't kill marines or turrets
I don't get it.. I've been trying for about a week now and I still cant attack anything as a gorge without upgrades or hiding... I see other skulks rushing straight in to marine spawns and killing 1 or 2 of them no problem, but I can't even get in there, but in the same game I see these guys in I can't kill those same marine's. the only way is for me to hide first, but what good is that when the marines are invading one of your hives already. They shoot me up before I reach them. No I am not holding the attack before I get to them, I know how that can make you easily seen.

Other time's I just get totally confused. The marines may jump out of my way and I will have my mouth over my eyes while they do that so then I lose track of them, before I can find them I am dead.

Also how do people destroy turrets as skulks? it seems impossible... I even tried playing a lan game with cheats and putting one turret down then going skulk, I couldn't get past it. I just die everytime.

I would like to be able to help my team while they're rushing and there are too many gorges. Beside's this game is a FPS mod, the kill-death ratio has some importance in how good you are at least at fighting.
thanks.

As a skulk, turrets have extreme problems hitting you if you keep moving.
Just find a place behind the turret fac where they can't attack you and keep on chomping.

As a skulk, i generally just rush in and hit the jump key while biting. Against marine bases it's too easy to get stuck on things, so I keep jumping while biting so I don't get stuck on turrets and buildings. I usually end up with at least two kills, because marines and turrets can't really aim that well.

except for the fact that he is against rushing, that wont help me.. It gives no stratgey against turrets and or for rushing marines

    Killing marines:

Act like a bull on crack. Find your target and charge at him, jumping and weaving the whole way (remember you can run along walls too). Once hes within about 5 ft, start chomping. If you kill him, great. If you dont, RUN RIGHT PAST HIM by about 10ft. Turn around, repeat. While running past him isn't the most efficient/effective way, its certainly easier than trying to track him while hes right next to you. I find a figure eight pattern (viewed from the ceiling) is roughly the path you want. Once you get better, you can keep closer to him (where its harder for him to aim quickly enough) to take him out easier/faster.

    Rushing:

First, tell your team to rush. This is important to get everyone moving quickly. 1 person should go gorge right away or after the first rush. Wait outside the marines base until you have 4-5 skulks ready to go, then yell charge over voice or something. Run in and find the closest marine and chomp him. Jump alot. Run around like you're on fire. Keep chomping. Hopefully you'll get 1 or 2 before dying. When you res, wait outside again for 3-4 skulks and do it again. Just keep doing this until the marines start expanding, in which case kill their expansions.

    Turret Killing:

The secret is to ignore the turrets: go straight for the factory. In all the expansions i've killed, i've only seen a handfull that had properly placed turrets (aka i couldn't disable them by myself in one go). As long as there arent turrets on EVERY side of the factory (and placing a factory against a wall does not count as putting a turret on that side) there IS a way to kill it without getting hurt. Basically, take a peek into the room to see where turrets are (or more importantly, where they ARENT) then run back out to heal if you got hurt. Make sure there arent any marine guarding either. Then, just jump over any turrets in your way, zip through the area and get behind that factory as fast as possible. Then you're clear to chomp to your hearts content. Once the factory goes down, your first priority is the phase gate (if they have one), then the resource node. Disabled turrets are last on the list.

er uh what do you mean he??? did you read MY tips? they talk strictly about rushing marines,

My bad, I thought you meant B00ted tips, which are good, but I want to be a good skulk and I think rushing is the best way to learn.

I finally learned from someone in the game something that makes me feel horrbiliy stupid.. .I should just sway side sto side alittle.. whats harder to hit someonegoing in one direction (towards you) or 3 (left, right, foward) or even 5 (left, rightfoward, diagnol left, diagnole right)

also I have learned how important silence can be.

thanks for the tips, I am already doign better and with some practice I will be a skulk Ninja!

I am in no way AGAINST rushing, hell I am a big believer in disruption (thats what a rush is) im just more mythodical about it and would rather rush in a different fashion....

btw try to use squishy squash at a minumum when chasing a marine, and use vents to chase him, remember if you parasite and run in a vent, you will eventually get him.

chron, read my post again. i'm talking about tracking your target at melee range. hive sight doesn't work there. tracking a target at melee range while you are jumping/running/biting and your target is running/shooting/jumping is quite difficult and takes alot of reflexes and concentration, which is why i reccomended against it for beginners.

He's referring to Advanced Hive Sight (sensory upgrade), just remember to turn it on (whatever you've bound your 'flashlight' to)

With AHS running, all marines and structures show up in a bright almost crystal light. Very noticable. Makes it very easy to keep track of that marine you are trying to bite.
