Just a couple of things I noticed while playing Onos

1. If you attack manually instead of holding down the mouse button I noticed that you can actually increase your rate of fire to deal more damage

2. Strafe is your friend while charging; so long as you staying moving a little bit charge will persist and you get can get up incredible speed corner sliding

3. More well known but still needs to be said: "Stomp disables Phase Gates and Destroys Mines"

4. Don't give up on Clog walls; you can bash threw Clogs, but it takes a few hits

5. And lastly. . . Remember that players have no idea what your health is at
(use this to your advantage enough and they might not give chase the one time they could have finished you off)

---

If you got any tips for other alien classes or marine weapon loadouts (like maybe how to actually kill whips with nades) post here

When an Onos is running away when you're not entirely sure your team has done enough damage... Chances are, IT'S AN ONOS STOMP PARTY!

This also works with the axe, if you click at the right time after finishing two swings.

You can rifle-butt before reloading finishes and still have the reload work. This also requires very exact timing, about when the marine is about to pull the handle.

I'd say the onos has become less of a 'siege weapon' and more of a hit and run type tank, unless there's multiple. They really shouldn't have nerfed the hide armour, instead they should find a way to properly scale him throughout the game. (abilities alone don't cut it)

I've tried strafing, and it didn't feel very effective at high speed.

Plant Mines on ceilings and walls, preferably around corners to surprise aliens.

Pistol, with weapon upgrades, is much more effective against the Onos. It takes a lvl 3 Pistol (in "laser mode") less than 5 clips to kill an Onos, regardless of Carapace.

Rifle melee attack has much faster firing rate when moving.

This thread is starting to feel like one about "quirks and bugs".

Not sure how many of those are still in the game.

It seems to me that the lower your weapon upgrade, the better off you are using the pistol's alt fire. Lmg's have more to gain from weapon upgrades because they suffer heavily against hide armor.
106->76 primary pistol shots (w0->w3), 59->44 alt pistol shots. This is, indeed, regardless of cara. The light damage will take out the health before even non-cara armor because it suffers very little from hide armor.
The lmg against a non-cara onos is 7->4 mags, against a cara onos it's 8.5->4.85 mags.

Still, it isn't a bad idea to just go for emptying your lmg and then your pistol's primary fire into an onos. 3 weapons 3 marines firing one lmg and one (primary) pistol mag into an onos with cara will leave it at 47 hp and 43 armor. They aren't really all that hard to take out.

I know, I know, number crunching won't always result in those numbers when you can miss or get disrupted/killed ingame, but still.

As a note, shotguns obviously vary, but it becomes even more important to get up close with it against onos because of hide armor.
