Would it make sense to let Gorges build real stuff?

What if Gorges got the ability to build everything? I mean pretty much everything the Alien side has to offer, perhaps with the exception of hives. Or perhaps even hives. Using their pres. It would of course require some tweaking for the costs etc. The main objection would be that this steps into the realm of the Alien comm. But would that really be a problem? Nothing would be taken away from him. He would still be the master of all tres and only he would unlock upgrades. In NS1 it worked just fine with multiple Gorges (aka "comms") working in parallel so I can imagine it might work like that in NS2 as well without devaluing the role of the Khamm too much.

Back to your idea, what would be the point of the alien commander if it only does the same things as a gorge? Might as well remove alien comm in that case, no?
That's exactly what we should do.
but seriously, hey charlie remember ns1? stop trolling us with these fancy designs, or making it up as you go along. Don't ignore NS1 ground work nor the balance changes.
how many more threads with all these amazing ideas who knows where they come from, going to be ignored? how much further must you dumb-down NS2? I remember your reply about trying new things, so how many failures till we finally go back what worked for years?
too many fanboys go along with whatever is being handed to them without questioning the underling issues. Oh how I remember the days when people kept saying "wait until X in the game, everything will change" and still we have these issues. The problem is the core of the game. Everything we doing now are just cheap band-aids AND making design ideas as we go along.

i honestly dont understand your post, im having a blast with ns2 and im also an old ns1 player. sure its a little different but that doesnt mean its bad, it can work out. the balancing-changes are a bandaid for sure, real balancing can only accoure once all features are in.
im sure there will be a ns1 mod, no doubt about it.
i myself have many visions of what i would like ns to be and will most likely make a mod myself, wouldnt be the first one.
what i try to say is, let UWE make a mainstream game so it sells good, thats the objective for now, for all of us. after release we will see real juwels of mods, i get exited just thinking about it.

The main game cant be too different from the mod because transitioning from pub to competitive becames too difficult and scene is bound to be too small for healthy activity.
At the moment NS2 is a incomplete puzzle made by wrong pieces, it may look like its almost ready but it will never be functional.
led me to make this thread: <a href="http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns2/forums/index.php?showtopic=118315" target="_blank">idea on: gorges building + kham, co-existing!</a>
