If you get a crash, please immediately go to the following on your PC:

    C:\Users\YOURNAMEHERE\AppData\Roaming\Natural Selection 2\

and upload your log.txt for us to see, this can help with diagnosing crashes.

Do not launch NS2 just after you crash, just grab the log file and let us see it :-)

and the usual, verify game cache, install newest drivers, restart your pc, etc. might improve stability ;)

I wasn't aware you could do that. But i use the 'Experimental Non Flash Menu Mod'. Would this affect the log?

From Marine commander. Haven't noticed any more crashes outside the commander, but this is quite frequent and seems to have been introduced in 207.
  • peregrinusperegrinus Join Date: 2010-07-16 Member: 72445Members
Had frequent crashes in 205 and 206 - none so far in 207

And those crashes where half a team would crash at the same time seem to have gone.

servers crash like every other game at the moment, HBZ always crashing and skulkrush always crashing. Maybe this is due to the fact there is no limit on structures like turrets, mines and hydra's etc which we appear to have 4000 every game.

Also i dont know if anyone can help me with this, but i get this EVERY GAME i play in my console:

I could very well affect the stability if there is a bug in the mod. Every time UWE releases a new build for NS2 there is a chance the mods will have issues that could potentially make the game unstable.

Make sure that you try and see if NS2 crashes without any mods loaded to at least rule them out :)

    @bungle
Those are simply things that aren't loading or not yet released. The game is just reporting them for some reason, but are not the cause of crashing

inb4 root cause of all performance issues is actually spamming printouts

This is actually true. The game locks while the logger is flushing its data to the logfile, which can result in significant slowdowns if the console-messages really start to build up. This is true for the server anyway, probably the client too.

I've noticed this too, only happened when I was commanding a marine game.

Well to be fair, the lua spam will only occur if there is actually an error and it starts spamming. These loading errors are printed only once during the initial load of the map or the file in question once it is needed from what I can see...

    ARGH.

This has happened 3 times in the last 24 hours. It only happens during marine commander, and I'm pretty sure it was introduced in 207. I play comm on both sides about equally, and alien khamm seems fine.

Tired of leaving my teams hanging :(

We had a few marine commanders and they all crashed in one round. The Command Chair is more of an ejector seat than anything at the moment.

Those horrible laggy freezes are back too.
