[Idea] Healing Marines and Aliens

Currently there are medpacks and ammo packs to drop on your marines when you're comm.

This is entirely too difficult to land, especially in combat.

The marines are hopping around trying to avoid skulks and are very small on the screen

Solution:

A) Give us a "buffer" zone around the marine to where it will hit them so we don't have to be exactly on top of them.

OR

B) Let the commander zoom in on the game to make the marines larger and easier to land medpacks on.

Personally, I would like option B due to being an RTS player. In RTS games I always zoom in close to the action when I need to be more precise.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

There is currently no way to help your fellow aliens currently when you are commander.

Alien commanders need a way to support their teammates when they are in combat.

Too often do I feel helpless when I am commanding under aliens when all I can do is pretty much tell them where marines are located and headed.

I want to be able to help my comrades. I can't go dropping a crag in every single room and making a hotkey for every one for the umbra.

I want something hands on where I can at will assist my teammates.

Solution:

A) A gas cloud similar to mist which can only be used on infestation that either
1) Heals the Aliens instantly based on a % to balance amongst all lifeforms (i.e. Like 20% of their MAX health or could be 30% of CURRENT health)
OR
2) Heals the Aliens over time for X amount of health over 5 seconds

OR

B) A mini egg similiar to those that spawn around the hive could be dropped, only on infestation, that can act similiar to medpacks in giving an on-demand heal to the alien that would restore an X amount of health instantly.

Personally, I would prefer option A as it fits the theme of the aliens more with the infestation assisting the aliens.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You could also take this one step forward and give Umbra to the ability of the commander after 2 hives have been established. This allows the alien commander to give more assistance to his teammates rather than sitting by and watching hoping his teammates come out on top of the battle.

This would not be negative to the crag structure as it would still have plenty of use. You could still use it's healing aura around the hive, RT's, Hydra's, and Whip's to act as a forward base for the aliens so they wouldn't have to retreat all the way to the hive to rest.

This allows Aliens and Marines to have a sort of a "front lines" where the battles are taking place instead of just having each side rush the RT's and try to get to the other's base the quickest without ever really having any major confrontations.

While some may think negative that this would "slow the pace of the game down". The current pace seems more of an all or nothing style where whoever runs out of resources to drop RT's the quickest loses.

Taking over a new room or area of a map should feel like an accomplishment. This should be allowing the alien commander in-combat aid while also letting the marine commander not feel so punished while trying to help his own teammates.

This would also make the battles much more intense and tactical instead of the quick ending that they currently have.

While giving commanders the ability to change view height is a good idea and hopefully something that will happen in any case, I don't think specifically making it easier to medpack is really needed; it's currently one of the few things of skill in a commander, something you can practice and get better at.

And though I sympathize with the feeling of helplessness as Khammander, Flayra has said he wants to keep the commander roles distinct in feel, and so only the marine comm gets direct spells and buffs (while the alien comm gets to interact more with the environment). There were a few ideas for more direct intervention on the design log I think, like instantly creating a wall of infestation to separate marines or block bullets, so it might just be a matter of time.

Some kind of the solution to the Marine commander's aim issues would be nice, along with the automatic visualization of soldiers' health, without having to select them.

I don't think aliens should have additional healing capabilities. They currently have 4:

Standard + upgraded regeneration (Out-of-harm)

Crag proximity (Stationary, Khammander instrument)

Hive proximity (Stationary, Khammander instrument)

Gorges (Player controlled evolved life form)
