<div class="IPBDescription">Long term side-project</div>So..

I finally came up with a layout for my very long term project, ns2_crude(name is likely to change). It is a revision of my earlier map ns_crude. The layout is very different but also similiar in many ways. Many rooms have had to be taken away and I needed to arrange things a little bit differently to make it work for NS2(I hope). A fair bit of elevation is planned to make sense of the order of the rooms. Also there is one particular section of the layout that I'm not sure will work. I won't tell you where because I'd like you guys to comment on it!

Old ns_crude layout:

ns2_crude layout:

Blue=Tech
Red=Res
Grey=Obstruction
And the transparent blue sections are planned alternative routes mainly for skulks.

I'll be starting to greybox the map a few weeks from now, on a rainy day I figure. This is sort of a side project and it may well turn out to be a school assignment for next year as well. I just don't know, but I know I want to make this!

I will keep the thread updated as I go :)

    So the greyboxing is coming along. Got half the maps floors as well as some walls and ceiling parts. Will continue later tonight.

    While waiting for a first alpha I though I'd post a few earlier pictures of a take on crude processing I originally did for this map while also learning the editor. This may or may not end up in the map.

    Sorry for editor shots but couldn't be arsed to get it ingame.

    Interesting, can't wait to see more.
    So how far is the greyboxing coming along? Topdown screen of your level? :)
    You can upload your alpha to <a href="http://www.duplexgaming.co.uk" target="_blank">www.duplexgaming.co.uk</a> when youre ready.
    All you need to do is make an account, and tell me your username.
    Then you will be able to go to "Admin" - "Downloads" - and press the "Maps" button to add your map. :-)

    Greybox is taking a bit longer than expected. Paying close attention to line of sight. Arc distances are also vital to keep in mind, so that you can't arc on tech point from another(at least this is important to me for this map as there will be plenty of other locations to arc from). And it's a bit of a pain figuring out all the elevation I have planned and make it at fit together nicely without having too steep ramps/stairs.

    Here's what I've got so far:

    Note that this is mostly thinking and not so much building!
