Marines can do the same thing as far as I know. I dont know if they can make it impossible to build in some places, but that would be about the only way to prevent it.

You see this all the time, usually you can just nade the area (splash damage) to take 'em out.

    These babies work too

I presume you are talking about NS Nothing. I am totally sick of the aliens doing that, and I am really not sure why Ken20banks didn’t make the elevators have crush damage, water at the bottom or nobuild placed in the area. It really annoys me playing as both teams

give me a jet pack and a HMG and those elevator things are no problem at all. given the alien team is stupid and dosn;t rush to back up a building under attack.

I think it's a legitimate alien tactic. The latest nanotechnology prevents elevators from crushing things by instantly going back up if it comes in contact with anything other than it's base. The best solution is to build a few siege turrets, use grenades or just take an alternate route.

Marines can't build under elevators because it would just build on the lift itself

You are all talking about what it is like if you are marines. Being an alien, you can’t destroy the stupid things, so all you can do is try to squeeze through at the right moment, often resulting in getting stuck.

well then, use that free time to explore that part of the map further, not only are they beauitful, but there are two if not three ways into EVERY room in EVERY map. if there's a way in.... you know.

AFAIK it is not possible for marines to build at the base of the lift (since the commander literally "drops" buildings), however it is possible to have "undergrouond" turrets for marines on eclipse. Placing a turret on a slanted area at one of the entrances to the computer core hive results in it sinking down almost all the way in. It takes twise as long to build but it is also very hard to destroy as a skulk.

They need a "no-build" entry for mappers so people can't build crap all over the place.

well, one time I saw a seige turret lodged halfway into a lift platform. Funniest thing I could imagine, it couldn't kill us because the turret's barrel was in the lift. Didn't bother us one bit, since we were able to use the lift "properly", of course the marines were wondering why we weren't killed by that turret.

If you add nobuild places, the game is going to lose a lot of freedom, fun, and strategy.

Might have been that siege turrets don't attack players...

no u dont get it this elevator wasnt just a lift, thee were no gaps between the elevator and the wall. so we couldnt get anything through , but i guess your right, it is a perfectly viable alien strategie.

mighty annoying for us commanders though

in NS_caged the marines can weld that oen vent shut so there is only ONE way into their base.
