Movies with human VS alien Sci-Fi-Horror atmosphere

e.g. Alien, The Thing, etc.
so i hope this is not too off-topic, but it was mentioned on several occasions that ns2 is highly influenced by the Alien movies.
and i figure a lot of people playing ns2 really like this genre, so how about we make a list? sorry if there is already a similar topic but i couldn't find it after searching for quite a while...
let's just have one rule: don't spoiler too much!
but i guess it's useful to outline what the movie is about (setting, atmosphere, etc.)
i also put a bad movie on the list (Doom), because in the end it is a matter of taste. and you never know if the reader is someone who really can't get enough of this stuff (like me)... so please, don't hold back: it seems to me that there are not a lot of movies which fit in this genre.
Alien
there are actually quite some movies by now:

QUOTE

Alien (1979)
Aliens (1986)
Alien 3 (1992)
Alien Resurrection (1997)
Alien vs. Predator (2004)
Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (2007)
Prometheus (2012)

i guess the 1st (Alien) and the 2nd (Aliens) are by far the most popular ones, whereas the 2nd might have the highest influence on games (like ns2, but it is also very obvious e.g. in "Alien Swarm", let alone the official games).
the 1st is probably more focused on building up atmosphere whereas the 2nd has more action in it.
Cowboy Bebop (Episode 11)
this is not a movie but merely an episode (20-25 mins) and i should probably point out that it is anime. and neither about cowboys nor music: the focus is on a small crew of bounty hunters on a space ship. the series itself is quite versatile and only this particular episode fits in this list. the atmosphere builds up nicely and the setting is rather authentic (yes, animes can do this actually quite well if they really want to).
Lily C.A.T.
the movie title might be misleading as it is about employees on a space ship far away from home. this movie is rather old and it's also an anime and not everyone will enjoy it. still, you might want to give it a try as it has some nicely thought-out concepts while providing several typical elements you'll also find in alien 1.
Deadspace Downfall
yes, it is related to the Deadspace games. unlike anime, it seems impossible for cartoons to be scary though. but that might just be my personal experience... if they can actually be scary for some grown up people, then this one is probably among them. it's been a while since i saw it, but i remember it took place on a larger space ship and probably had a bit more focus on action.
Doom
they put some effort into this one, but as far as i know nobody really liked it... and i don't recommend it either. it's not outstandingly bad though, so you can still give it a try if you are desperate.
not directly fitting the genre, but somehow close:
(John Carpenter's) The Thing
there are two movies with this name, one is made in 2011 and it is a prequel to the original one. these ones are less sci-fi (taking place in antarctica and not in the future) but come up with a very original concept.
as for the first movie being so old (1982): it might be a bit slow-paced at times, but the atmosphere is nice and the effects are surprisingly well-made (better than in Alien imo).
Sunshine
a crew on a mission to reactivate the sun with a huge bomb before it dies. you can now stop laughing. thank you. i know it sounds ridicolous, but the movie is in fact actually very serious and decently authentic. it does not directly fit the genre because there is no alien in it. still, it definately has some horror elements and a nice atmosphere.
Starship Troopers
it is mostly about marines fighting insect-like aliens in a full-scale war. this is absolutely not horror i guess, but UWE took a famous quote from it: "would you like to know more?"
Event Horizon
it's been a while since i saw this one but i don't think it had any alien in it. definately horror though; also takes place on a space ship.
Dark Star
now this one is quite old (1974). also kinda strange and not even that good. it's been ages since i saw it and i remember not knowing wether i should love or hate this one... probably both. some people consider it a classic, but personally, i cannot really recommend it i guess.
so yea. if you know any other movies (even if they are not quite good), please mention them.

Khyron recommends: Pandorum
You've probably seen: Cloverfield, Cowboys and Aliens, District 9, Fifth element
Khyron does not recommend: Apollo 18, John Carter
I find that the less I know about a movie the more I enjoy it. For everything else, there's IMDB. :P
Everyone must remember these critters.
Yeah i know its not really humans v aliens in the sense that they are fighting each other but they are still aliens, and there's still humans and its scared the hell out of me when i was a kid :P
Edit:

Pandorum
Takes place aboard an Ark/Colony ship where something has gone wrong during the voyage, now a handful of survivors who have awaken from cryo-sleep have to fix the ships reactor while trying to survive and figure out what happened.
technically not aliens, but humans who evolved to suit their environment because they've been on the ship for far longer than they thought initially.

No way? All this time I heard people talking about this show and I dismissed it as an anime about a cowboy called Bepop.

Good call! If I wasn't biased towards sci-fi I couldn't say it's a good watch, but I found it ok.
I don't have a lot to add to that list, though the cannibal-type-dudes in Firefly/Serenity could be unsettling given the otherwise camp setting of the series/movie.
Quite. Cowboy Bebop is Da Bomb. Pity it's so short though. Its soundtrack is staple playlist material for me.

the one of my favorite movie when i was fifth grade,i hope i saw these movie again..
One great human v Aliens movie imo
like.. Xtro 2: The Second Encounter, the one that totaly ripped off alien and aliens in quite some ways.
some top secret underground lab containing a phase shifting dimensional gate, shifts a group of scientists into a paralell universe (which is all foggy and murky like lv426, and they totaly have radio contact) where they find some dome like structure they have to approach right away!
then something happens (orly)
one of the scientists who returned, some chick, later explodes from the insides, having some creature crawling out of her..

part alien - part predator - all cheesy!

like... very blatantly ripping off -->

they use a .50 m2 browning with bull###### glued to it, attached to a steady cam vest as smartgun

at first it looks like they were inspired by camerons abyss, but that movie came out at the same year, and had quite some budget, you cant exactly call it a b movie.
it has peter "friggen robocop" weller and amanda pays as main characters, and features some realy nice sets and props. these atmospheric deep-sea diving suits the underwater miners use look quite awesome and "plausible"..

>Movies with human VS alien Sci-Fi-Horror atmosphere
star trek and star wars do not qualify

It is aliens v humans in a sense, yet you dont really see much action and i dont know about any of you but this movie still scares the hell out of me.
Therefor I would class it under the 'Movies with human VS alien Sci-Fi-Horror atmosphere' category
star trek and star wars do not qualify

A few Trek episodes come close to the border of sci-fi horror, in certain parts.
I can think of more.

i like the servival aspect of that movie every bit as good as the aliens movies
