<div class="IPBDescription">Greetings from Bitey <3!</div>Hello, I'm Bitey and perhaps a few of you have seen me learning this game over the past few months. I've been 'lerking' over forums since build 198ish and thought this looks like an interesting time to throw a few of my ideas out to the community and double with an introduction post. My history hails from playing several different games competitively all in the FPS genre so please keep that in mind as I spout any of my buck fifty ideas. With that said I'll go along and start chucking them out for the community debate:

#1 I feel that the new change to welder can be made to work given the current gameplay situation of this build. First the tool needs to be streamlined, if it's goal is to be a fundamental required tool for repairing power nodes that knocks it's importance on the field up a few steps. With that in mind I recommend that it be coded to work in the same way as the 'build tool' functions. Hold E to repair armor, nodes, and all other functions of the tool. It should not take the place of a weapon-axe slot, because dropping it leads to a chance of losing it ontop of that it's not much of a weapon to begin with.

The big problem with welder currently is the communication and requesting someone to come in and heal you. The function should be simply easy and straight forward task and award a player with points for fixing their friendly. Another problem is the fact that switching to welder first means you need to pull out the tool before you can use it, this adds to delay in combat which means crucial seconds lost of fiddling with guns before you can get back into action. The "Use key" hotfix would streamline the welding and make it more combat viable and noob friendly by removing the need to switch weapons to fix things-players.

#2 Bring back laser pistol, or make it the default firing mode. The problem I have with the current pistol is the amount of bullets it takes to kill a life form, by the time you can make one frag your either at half clip or less due to the 5 shots needed to frag a skulk. Most of the time the pistol is brought out due to the LMG running out of ammo, so switching back is dangerous. The laser version of the pistol gave you 10 chances to land 3 shots in a row, while this gives you 10 chances to hit 5. The effectiveness of each round is low due to it's low damage and clip size.

The fix of a laser-bullet-damage round increases the effectiveness of the pistol, and I believe would also make it easier for new players. Instead of being a tiny LMG clone, it becomes the a marine sniper-like weapon due to the higher damage and good range. A unique weapon that stands well apart from the others.

#2.5 A big problem I find with the current state of the marine game is the amount of time it takes to expend one clip of ammo from Pistol-LMG is low. I'll restate that again, bullets are shot to fast from the LMG, and the pistol takes too many to kill for the clip size. As of this moment it takes 10-11bullets at start to frag a skulk, the effectiveness of the LMG is purely based on accuracy, tracking, and hitreg. In my view a noob who has no idea of the game will likely hold fire down, and spray the walls with bullets expending over half a clip on killing one life form. This problem leads to them typically being killed or left in a bad situation or left in such a bad situation that they will be killed by the next skulk.

A good fix would be to lower the ammo count of the assult rifle, raise the per bullet damage, and slow down the fire rate. The attempt would be to maintain the same DPS, while trying to slow down the fire rate of the gun to help players conserve ammo better. Alot of people have trouble controlling a weapon that fires 10+ shots a second, this would improve the lowest skilled player and hopefully increase his chances of taming his standard issue LMG. The pistol fix is the solution in #2

#3 To be contiuned another day I'm sleepy ~_~

I hope some people find this post constructive and informative, as my first post I also give a second greeting to every reader and look forward to fighting it out on the field!

+1 Welder streamline and laser sight pistol keepsies.

I really though the laser alternate had a place. It pierces armor much better and allowed the marine to do some long range damage early game.

rofl. Why'd I know you were gonna ask for laser pistol back as soon as I saw your name? You're like the only guy I see that actually used it in battle all the time

    1) I agree with streamlining. However, I do not agree with retaining the axe. Getting a welder is supposed to be a trade-off in that slot. The welder does a lot more damage to cysts and holy ###### does it tear up clogs. You shouldn't have both worlds, one or the other.

    2) I think the laser sight for the pistol was working, but I am curious what they have in mind.

    3) I think they call that a shotgun?

The lower firing rate of the alt pistol did help encourage discipline when firing, instead of the "I should click as fast as possible and miss 70% of my shots" instinct with regular pistol.

As for the LMG's firing rate, I think people just need to learn discipline when firing. Shoot in bursts when you know you're going to hit, instead of holding down firing and then flailing wildly trying to get the crosshairs on the target.

If pistol is only going to have 1 firing mode, I'd prefer it to be the alt-pistol too as that's very different from the LMG's behavior.

I like your suggestions bitey. And no the lmg would not be like the shotgun with those suggestions.
