God-######-damn this game. I am sick and tired of not having quicksave in a game that is screaming for savescumming and will set you back half a ###### hour when you die, which happens in a second. I am sick and tired of how terribly it performs and how little ammo there is and how every enemy takes half a magazine to kill and how they all have infinite ammo until the instant you kill them at which point all but five of their bullets turn to vapour. I am sick and tired of every bullet making your aim spasm all over the place when the enemy can place pinpoint fire on you while being shot in the face. I am ###### SICK of this ######, and one of you ###### recommended it to me and whoever it was better come forward and justify themself.
I like the setting though, very immersive.
Edit: lolf less mad now. You will like lolf when lolf less mad. Reducing the difficulty helped. Also switching back to DX9 increased the performance by a lot. Apparently the DX11 engine is poorly optimised.

This game is brilliant. I did the ending where you save the darkones and not kill them. Metro: Last Light looks even better. Takes paer in 2034, a year after the vents in this this game. Should be out next year, a 6 month pushback from the original date

The "dont look away, do not move, let them sniff on you and they might leave you alone" part is the worst , most terrifying thing ive experienced in that game. On the second run It made me almost skip that part with cheats , but then i played it without skipping , and it was just as creepy. That basement you sneak around between sleeping librarians, just to get that stupid ammo...omfg.. and then one wakes up and looks around...i shat bricks every time
The librarians were a pain for me because I somehow messed up the first encounters by letting them come and smell me somehow. They just started attacking me so I thought I had been internet trolled by allowing them to get close. This resulted in fighting every single one of them that I couldn't sneak past. Luckily it wasn't too hard to shoot, turn and sprint, turn back, shoot and so on without getting hit very much.
I found the humanoid face creatures much more terrifying because they were so uncanny valley looking and seemingly random with their hostility.
The end fight with the "slugs" was catastrophic. God damn AI, god damn low ammo and god damn aoe exploding slugs EVERYWHERE.
Anyway, I'm done now. Even managed to get the "true" ending, despite not knowing about it until I was more than halfway through the game.
I'd load it up, play it for a while and enjoy it quite a lot, but then after I'd closed it for whatever reason (done for now, had to go out, bedtime, whatever), I never had any urge to actually start it up again. After forcing myself to do so a couple of times (and, once again, enjoying the game whilst actually playing it), I never bothered again.
Very odd.

Probebly the scariest game enemy I have ever seen.
Was never a problem. M&B Warband takes longer to load up than Metro 2033 and I put a disturbing amount of time into Warband.
I'm not sure what it is about the game. STALKER hit me the same too. While I'm playing it, I legitimately enjoy the experience. After I've closed it, I have literally zero desire to open the game up again, even though I know when I'm playing it I'll enjoy it.

I hated these so much I didn't bother with the cat/mouse aspect. I just killed them all :3
I absolutely loved the tension when one spotted you. They would walk up, stare at you really close in the face, and then run off or fight you. ###### was awesome.
Beating Metro 2033 on the hardest setting was incredibly fun. Its best to use the arrow weapons/throwing knives as they can be picked back up. I thought it was funny how damn deadly the throwing knives are.

Yeah I loved using the Helsing. The first time around I went in guns blanzing everywhere, the second time I bought the Stealth Armor in Armory Station instead of the heavy and went all out stealthy.
Other than that, even silenced pistol shots make the enemys scream and alerts everyone, or enemys are too close to each other and taking one out always alerts everyone.
The game was amazing regardless.
Last Light looks like they fixed all those problems and it looks awesome.
I do remember it being immersive and scary (not as bad as Doom 3 but less than the scary parts of Stalker). I had a feeling there were multiple endings once I'd finished it, but I think I wasn't sure where you could go differently? I really liked the gas mask system, but there were air filters everywhere which detracted from the stress. It was more the psychological impact of the muffled sound, slightly blurred vision and the notion that time was ticking away. At times the bad english translations added to the immersion but sometimes it just felt like bad voice acting.
I also remember it being insanely demanding on the graphics cards but not having all that much to show for it, unfortunately. They weren't clever about making it look good, they just used more grunt for more pollies I think. Some of the textures and lighting was not so great.
PS: I youtubed the librarians and yeah I do remember them now. I didn't realise they could be avoided, pretty sure I shotgunned them all... After playing all the stalkers I assumed (correctly) that you're best off to carry a shotgun for critters and a rifle for humans.
Yeah, that ending is the best ending.
Play it on Ranger Hardcore for ultimate experience :)
