just a quick one...

if i'm holding a L0 weapon and are walking through the level (away from armory etc) and I see the popup that L1 weapons (+dmg) has finished being researched does the weapon i'm currently holding do more damage at that point or does it stay a L0 weapon untill I goto the armory or respawn?

When I think about starcraft marines they upgrade the moment the upgrade goes through, despite their location on map etc.

But, when I think about FPS your weapon doesnt upgrade untill you respawn or purcahse it again or swap it again etc.

So in that reguard the FPS/RTS hyrbid in this sence isn't really intuitive to a player...

It upgrades automatically no matter where you are. That would be an interesting dynamic if you had to go back to an armory though

Another plot hole: if marines teleport in equipped, why can't they tele in fully equipped fully upgraded?
I think we just have to accept some things just because this is a game.
That said, I agree with you james888. Same with armor - it was actually like this with armor early on, which together with no armory armor healing, I would like alot!

Infestation in the base is interfering with the teleporting in from outside the base bit?

IMO that's stupid and is counter-intuitive...

I think marines should have to make a choice if they should have to go back to base for that new upgrade to take effect or they continue pushing with their L0 weapon.

It makes no sense that a weapon you started with would magically do more damage just because your commander has researched how to make them do more damaged when produced at base. The sound that plays to the player even says "New weapon upgrade available", not "Your weapon just magically upgraded itself!"

(Unless of course your commander drops / teleports a weapon near you during combat, which would be produced at base upgraded and then teleported to your location so that makes sense that the player is aware the new machine gun they were just dropped by their commander just gained the new upgrade)

Aliens have to gestate to get any upgrades. They have to make a conscience choice if they should risk going into egg form right now or not etc. Marines should have to do the same.

EDIT: Just read this in the changelog "Aliens keep their abilities after Hive has been killed until they change life form or die.". Does that mean that if a marine with a L3 weapon has the building that researched that L3 weapon +dmg destroyed that he instantly loses the damage? Despite the fact the weapon he is holding has already been produced with that +dmg in it??? WTF

Doesn't make sense, but it is a game afterall. Fun is more important.
