for me, this game crashes ALL the time, so when I have 70+ res it's annoying to lose it all to a game crash every 20 mins. Can the the server please remember how much res you had if you rejoin in less than say 2 mins or something?
Also, you should at least get 50% of your pres back after switching teams.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd--> Switching sides in the middle of the game?
It's going to be a useless feature when they officially release it since it's gonna be mostly bug free, meaning no random crashes. Same goes with switching teams mid-game, that's something you just shouldn't do.
Replace client-crash with internet-outtage\power-outtage, it's a valid request, so don't be a bunch of twats. Also, like Chicken said, v1.0 completely crash-free? Get real.
Also, you should at least get 50% of your pres back after switching teams.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Switching sides? Only reasons i can think of doing that for is because the other team is doing better then yours or the less likely reason, the other team is doing bad and you though you might help them out.
Switching sides and losing your res seems fine to me

And the number of people who do this would be the tiniest fraction compared to the number who use it to switch to the "better" or "winning" team.
A crash is a crash, and can't be helped by the player really. Full release will still have ways to crash or otherwise lose connection.
Even if full release were somehow 100% crash/disconnection-free, why not just temporarily implement it until it gets to that stage? Beta is beta, and beta is now, so people are experiencing this frustration now, even if maybe in the future they wont.

+1 This has long been a needed feature in NS2. I think as long as the match persists, you should be able to keep your res from crashing/switching teams.

Exactly.
I try to have the HBZ servers as balanced as possible, but sometimes people join a side and then leave after the first few minutes, creating a 8vs5 at the start of the game. At this point I change the team, but it is just unfair that I have to start with nothing. With 10 res I could at least buy a welder or go gorge.
And even if it happens that the winning team has fewer players than the losing, I wouldn't care someone balancing teams again, even if he gets "easy victory". It would be more unfair if the winning starts to lose because of uneven teams.
Keeping some res would make balance more attractive for everyone.

Why would you switch to a winning team anyway? That's just boring....
I think you will find it's the opposite, more people definitely switch to the losing team as it's generally more challenging.

Winning teams usually have more players than losing team, so cannot switch.
I honestly think keeping your res when you switch would be a good thing. Give a boon to the side who previously was missing a teammate.

Yep. But we need a littel restriction. Letz say the max. pres that an alienplayer can have in the current game is 38 (depending on the numbers of extractors). A Marine player, who changed the team, with 52 pres gets his pres decreased to 38 now .

could have it so that it also records what faction you were in... so if you drop to marines but were aliens beforehand, you get that 20 res starter pack, but if you swap again, you have the 80 you had before?

Well for the Esport' sake then I guess it would be needed to have the P.res amount for the player that just crashed saved temp. somehow but for the purposes of switching teams/etc. during a match I think you should only start with 20 P.res like any other normal person starts with.

I think it should only be for crashing and not just leaving the server/game and rejoinging that server/starting up the game after manually disconnecting.
