Don't wait for space on servers, join low population servers!

Just a small point...

Often times when I go to play, I notice that servers are either completely full or completely empty. I always join a low population server (2/18 players) and within a minute the server is full because there are so many people constantly refreshing server browser waiting for a space in a full server.

So the point is, don't waste your time just join a low population server and it will very quickly become full!!

I don't know if UWE can implement some sort of player count which is visible when viewing the server list so you can see the pool of players waiting to join a server.

Also, most recent patch is awesome!! keep it up

The solution to this problem (and some companies still use it) is bots, Look at Team Fortress 2, It has bots, whenever at person leaves or joines will replace or be replaced by a bot.

they should consider to add it at some point after release, bots seem to be really underrated for some reason.

i normally play all in or norcal but tonight the only servers available were either max capacity or 0. i ended up joining a 1v1 cause it was the only available server with someone in it. needless to say it was commander vs commander for about 30 minutes and not 1 single person ever joined. this game needs working bots badly

Not for some reason, with good reason. Bots are often terrible and do not at all provide the level of interaction a human player would. This counts doubly for NS, which relies on quite sophisticated gameplay at times that cannot even remotely adequately be performed by bots. Not to mention you are often tricked into these bot-servers under the impression it's a lifely server. Add on top of that the trauma NS1-players have seeing the server-browser filled to the brink with bots for indeed many of its final years, and you have yourself a very healthy aversion to bots.

NS is a very social game, it's not Quake 3, it desperately needs human interaction between players.

I once tried to train bots for NS1. It failed miserably.

It did however provide us some hilarious games where we loaded up 2 Alien Bots for each player on Marine Team. Epic times.

With hitreg issues, one has to be very picky about what servers they join.
So far I've only found the norcal and socal servers to result in players that don't stutter and warp, and there seems to be little to no hitreg problems there.

I don't know if it has to do with me being on the westcoast or what, I thought the all-in servers were suppose to be good, but in terms of hitreg and network lag they seem to be as bad as any other for me despite the decent ping.

If your server is infected with bots I will never play there. Even one is too many.

Hell, even zero is too many, because the people who join bot servers tend to be the people who like one million custom sounds, quake/UT announcer, truly idiotic mods like /rollthedice.

It's always great when the bots on a server are treated as players in the server browser, you join a supposed to be full server and it's just a hive of a bot army.

Some people queue on a particular server because of performance. I for one prefer a handful of servers, and even on them my ping is in the ~160. And yea, bots are absolutely the worst solution you can come up with, no arguments whatsoever. This isn't cs, or tf where they can just run around aimlessly and take pot shots at the players.

I most of the time join high pop servers, but whenever I join a low population server, and decide to do a bit of commanding for fun, I often realise halfway through the match, that my team doubled in size, and i need bto be more focused :) low pop servers don't stay low pop for long :)

Usually I join servers with most players since I don't really enjoy the game with only 6-8 players or so but that kind of thing is rare to see these days!

Other than that I usually end up leaving a server when a %¤#%#!%!¤ takes the command chair only to set up a wall of armories in the corner of the courtyard (docking) along with an observatory in case of cloaked aliens for his own 'enjoyment'.

Hopefully that certain 'someone' will slip on some lampoil and fall down a pit going to Korodai.

I only join HBZ and OldAssGamers. The only servers that I know, that can keep up the 30 ticks in late game. So, sorry but I don't join weak servers that will start lagging as soon as 16 players are on them.

Most games have favorites lists for servers but I would love to see a personal black list so I can just filter out the ones I don't like from the global list. Any server with gimmicky mods or try to trick you with ready room bots would quickly make the list.
