Don't wait for space on servers, join low population servers!

Just a small point...

Often times when I go to play, I notice that servers are either completely full or completely empty. I always join a low population server (2/18 players) and within a minute the server is full because there are so many people constantly refreshing server browser waiting for a space in a full server.

So the point is, don't waste your time just join a low population server and it will very quickly become full!!

I don't know if UWE can implement some sort of player count which is visible when viewing the server list so you can see the pool of players waiting to join a server.

Also, most recent patch is awesome!! keep it up

I tend to join the same group of servers, and that is those which run 30 ticks, and i really can't be bothered going through too many. The new danish servers for example, are running 8-15 ticks which is just horrible :/ Would be nice with a list of all decent servers.

Your player count idea is a great one neilm86, Marc actually had that idea earlier and is working on a system already. The goal is to make it easier to get in and fill servers :).

I usually go to my clans norcal server. If that if full, I got to all in or ns2hd servers. If those are all full, I go to a near empty server.

Hugh, do please make it account for server stability then. Or make a feature like the old ping-bar so you can see which servers are running the low tick rates. Obviously this should be change as the servers are optimized as 30 obviously isn't good, but I would say that should be green bar with stars and every sort of bling you can find ^.-

MW3, with their internet browser UI, did something I liked which was the queue when joining a full server. You could see you were #2 in line and didnt have to "retry" spam the server as i do now.

@RisingSun: If you download the menu mod there is here you can have a little box you tick off, and it will do exactly that for you. It should be implemented some time in the real menu though :)

Im sure many people didnt realize what impact an 8 tick server has on gameplay. Maybe they think, this constant rubberbanding on those servers are normal in ns2, wich is not true. I saw people playing on 8 tick servers for 2 hrs while faster servers are empty.

The HBZ servers for example are the fastest, best administrated available in europe and it seems people prefer 8 tick servers very often instead wich is really strange.

Yeah, sometimes I join one of this server and tell them to move to another server, but they don't seem to react. That's why server with low tickrate should be displayed in red or something in the server list.

I almost never see HBZ being low on people, and you'll almost always find me on #1/#2 for several hours a day. I usually play with a bud, and it's always a question of one finding a spot and then the other waiting for the round to finish. Beside HBZ 1, 2, 3 I can add OldGamers(I think), but they run mineshaft which has a few fps issues compared to tram/summit. The new Archea servers are also decent, but only 16 players and not yet so popular. Can't speak for All-In, but I assume they are one of the greater ones outside of EU.

Ahh the new danish one is not that good? That's too bad. I'll avoid it for the time being. But yeah I prefer the good servers too and will gladly wait 5 minutes for a spot. I cannot be bothered with these low tick servers.

Here's an idea, but I don't know if it's possible at all. If all your regular servers are full you could opt in to a lobby while you wait for a space to open. Once this lobby has a reasonable amount of people in it (say 10 or 12) it could throw you all on a random server.
Obviously it would need to group players by their ping and select a server near them. Perhaps server owners could opt-in for this too, so you can avoid getting put on a server with a poor tic rate.

This way people who are averse to the idea of messing about with just 2-3 other people while waiting on a server to fill have another option.
