I noticed I could actually carry 300 spare bullets. Even though the HUD only shows 250. The armory will let you continue to load up anyway, two more times. And your spare ammo remains at 250 after the first reload. So I guess that's 300; math isn't my friend. More than 250, anyway.

Didn't see anything in the search about it, so... yeah... and I heart my light machine gun. Only reason I noticed, I suppose...


Other than that, I was wondering. Since the aliens appear to be colony organisms, that makes them female by default, yes?

    It was posted before somewhere, I can't find it either. For the LMG and HMG when you're loading up on ammo at the armory, just hold +use down until the ammo-feeding noise stops. The total ammo number is bugged.

    ya, i think the hmg ammo number is around 450 or so.. all i know is if i hold e a long time on that armory i can get like 4 reloads on that hmg.

    It's probably because the variables for the ammo number counters are 16 bit

    It's also the same with the HMG. You can carry way more than 225 bullets.

    I might have been thinking 8 bit. Whichever is the one that is 0-255.

    Erm, my guess would be some limitation in the HL engine. In the singleplayer game, the largest clip held 250 rounds reserve (the mp5), so maybe although the actual integer that holds the rounds you have left can be as high as necessary, it can't display anything higher than 250?

    About assuming that all Kharaa are female by default "because they're colony organisms" is just plain silly. These bugs mutate from a bony runt into a gigantic cow in a matter of tens of seconds. No reason to assume they've got sex roles at all, actually.

    If it's a giant cow, then it IS female. I've never heard of a male cow. Unless you meant a bull...

    The Kharaa gestate, which I think is something only found in animals that sexually reproduce.

    Ammo counters are tracked by an 8-bit number, so yes, it's limited to 255. Fire your LMG down to 205 bullets sometime, and then refill at the armory; you'll go to 255 (or you should) and then higher. This will likely change in the future - health used to be the same way, which was a real headache for Onos! Imagine watching your health drop from 244 to 0... then jump back UP to 244 and work back down to 0 again! Very confusing.

    I noticed I could hear the sound like the armory is still giving me ammo after I have 250 bullets, but I never really realized I was getting an extra clip.
