Epic Alien Comeback

Last night I was commanding an excellent Alien team on Tram. We found our selves pretty much screwed 10 minutes into the game. Our team was enclosed in our Main hive located in Warehouse with pretty much no other choice but to fight and wait for the inevitable. It didn't take the marines long to compound our pain with jetpacks and grenade launchers.

What followed was possibly the greatest comeback I have ever seen in my experience of Natural Selection.

We managed to fight our way to Server Room and erect a hive... with a couple of our Gorges doing what they can do keep the hive alive. Suddenly their entire marine team was poised to attack Server Room, GLs and JPs et all. They stormed in, causing all sorts of damage... my Gorges managed to keep the hive alive which had been reduced to 2%! Our Skulks wore them down. Little did we, or the marine team know one of our Skulks was taking down their only IP at their main base! We cleaned up that attack force.

By the time the Marine team got their ###### in order we had exploded across the map. We took a third hive and push right into their main base. The worm had turned and their cocky insults at our lowest point fueled our resolve and made victory that much sweeter!

GJ TEAM!

Yes this was really a great game, though we were lucky that the marines didn't take the game serious for a while. The commander did send 3 single arcs into the north tunnel one after another with no real backup. They even built some sentries.

sentries might be weak in this build, but they can make sense if you are already swimming in res. very late-game i usually place some backup structures (esp. power packs to phase gates, but sometimes an entire genuine base) to avoid these scenarios as they seem more frequent than commanders expect them to be. ARCs might be the better choice, but you can probably afford both if you control almost the entire map. and in the end, a desperate alien-push on your base is usually the only way you can still lose.

What i meant was that they could have finished us easily if they wouldn't have spent their resources and time on fortifying their bases and would have attacked instead.

okay, but that doesn't mean they didn't take it seriously. when you control most of the map, time usually works in your favor. an all-in push can be quite risky for marines too.

In theory true, but not if the marine team already has jetpacks and the aliens just got their 2nd hive and have no higher lifeforms ^^

I love it when you think you going to lose and the other team calls GG early and says things like, well that was easy, then you turn it around and win. Ahh the satisfaction

Sounds like a good game. I had a few lame games last night, aliens kept struggling to get a second hive and struggling more to hold it. Aliens are unplayable without second hive after a few minutes of the game.

My last 3 games were always stacked. I wish the admins would just do random teams so all the good players don't stick together. Just a thought.

That's not always the problem. We wouldn't have struggled in the game so much to get a 2nd hive if we did have a skill stack on alien side ;)

    Alien comebacks are the best.

Marines usually just have to wait for ARCS or Flamethrowers before pushing out.
