<div class="IPBDescription">too much information?</div>So,
I just got out of a game where I was able to Rambo a lot of upgrades from the aliens.
But after picking exactly the upgrade I wanted to kill first (cara? adren? celerity? feint? etc.) and was axing away at a carapace shell, I had some time to think.
Is it really fair for the marines to pick exactly what upgrades they're going to kill first? How does a marine now that a shell has been evolved to cara or regen?
How does a marine know what kind of hive has been evolved a particular spot?
It just felt.. wrong. (fun, but wrong)
Would it be enough for marines to only know what kind (shell/veil/spur) of structure it is, without actually knowing what the upgrade was they took down (if any?)
Afterall, when aliens take down an arms lab, they can't be 100% sure wether the upgrades are down, or if the comm has a 2nd at another location.
What do you guys think?

Aliens looking at an arms lab don't know what's been researched, but they do know by seeing a proto lab that there must be two cc's and an advanced armory on the field somewhere.

aliens also have the option to gestate multiple chambers for a single upgrade as a backup.
I thought this thread was going to be about giant floating red hives/cc's and how awful they are though. :P
Hm. There is alot of excitement when you suicide a building, just to deny an upgrade for a few minutes. Knowing something is on a few percent makes things exciting. Also seeing a structure is full means you reprioritise. Its a good thing.
However I can agree that knowing alien upgrades just by looking is a too easy.
Perhaps marine commander has to scan in order to see % and upgrades? Otherwise they just show as their generic (shell or hive instead of carapace shell or crag hive).
