grab attack for aliens

Hello, here an other idea. Everebody of you who played the third AVP Game should remember the very funny grab attack of the aliens. It will be nice to see something like that in NS2. Maybe the aliens can evolve "the grab attack", so they cann attacking a marine, but just from behind, hold them and finish him with a brutal move.

In AVP it works like this, the alien have to jump on the marine from behind or from top, the marine is falling on the ground and then the alien have to press "E" to make a brutal finish move. It have to be not that difficult, but its a nice way do demoralize the marines.

While execute the finish move an alien is otherwise a better target for a short period of time.

Just an idea.

    This combat system is exactly why the latest AVP failed so much.
    Taking away player control in a game like this gets frustrating very fast.

    Don't take offense, but I hate that idea. I don't think QuickTime actions like tapping e belong in a multiplayer game. Or really any game except for the select few that can do it right. Plus anyone with a macro feature on their keyboard including myself would bind that ASAP and run train. Lastly the aliens have enough abilities as is. Even without secondary ones you can still climb walls and fly. This just seems really gimmicky and not ns style.

    another reason why not to do this:
    Ns2 is tactical shooter/biter, avp is a ###### deathmatch brutality of good and bad (aliens good, predator bad)

    yeah ns2 is " deathmatchy" enough already, i don't see a reason to make it easier for skulks. also, in build 217 melee attacks traces are not in a cone shape anymore, this has been reverted back to a simple box, which will make it a bit easier to hit targets when very close

    Alien jockey, here we go :)

    These type of systems can work (L4D1/2 proved that), but the game really needs to be designed around the concept from the beginning. Putting it into NS2 will just not work well (think NS1 devour or NS2 stomp).

    i'd rather skulks have a grab as a 3rd hive ability, instead of xenocide - an ability that makes you respawn is not fun.

    edit: me and Grohm must be geniuses since we had the same idea at the same time :)

    Maybe the respawn queue should be shorter when you die using xenocide/devine wind?
