Hi all,
After seeing what a fantastic job the team has done on their cinematics on the Fade reveal some time ago I set out to look on how to make my own series within the NS2 universe.
However then I was not able to find any documentation or references on how to make those kind of cinematic.
I played around with the editor every time there was a patch out to see if it changed, gave a decent effort to move around characters as if I were playing with action figures, but there is no way I could get them to the level of detail and usability that we see in the current trailers.
I let it sit for a few months playing other things believing that it was just underdeveloped and needed time.
Now the Exosuit reveal video comes out and it blows me away! This brings me back to begging for some kind of tutorial, or at least a usable cinematic editor.
I suspect the community won't see this until the game has matured some more, which would be unfortunate, because the fan creations would stir up a huge buzz in the industry, such as Source Film Maker has done for TF2 and those silly Minecraft videos.
Am I just looking in the wrong places or are they hidden to the truly elite?
Now if there are well documented methods to getting whole working videos working somewhere then I apologize for my post, and I would really like some direction on this.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who has been inspired by UWE's superb work and would ask the community to bring this topic to light.
Cheers,

That is the only documentation for it I'm aware of.
I suspect parts of the reveal videos were animated in Maya.
From what I have read elsewhere on the forums, the editor tools won't be updated till after the game is released since they are busy with the game its self.
They have a open job position for a Tools Programmer which nobody has taken.
Attempting to do much with the cinematic editor at this point isn't recommended unless you are looking for a reason to self harm. I've found it too unstable to use for any decent length length of time and the bugs you'll come across in the program can sometimes be saved to a file making it difficult/impossible to finish what you're doing. So save the changes you make frequently to new files.
I've tried everything, it appears they only work in two directions, it doesn't matter how i rotate or change various settings, I want to create a sweeping deathray effect, i was planning to use cinematics\marine\arc\beam.cinematic as a starting point, changing its colour and size, it would of been easy to do but it's no good if it won't rotate.
