NS2 Recommended and Minimum Specs all over the place...

In Nvidia cards, from the 2xx range, only the NVidia 280 has 1gb, the entire 2xx range from nvidia otherwise is below 1GB. Same with the 9xxx series, and also the 1xx. Technically anyone with a card that isn't the top of the range upto and including 2xx do not have the power to meet the minimum requirements.

This could get really messy, as the cards specified and many generations after do not come with 1GB ram. People seeing these specs will look at the card numbers and think they can run the game, when they can't.

For example my nVidia GTS250, only has 512mb graphics, and can only run the game now at low settings, for a short period before crapping out. I suggest these minimum specs get re-evaluated, before there are masses of complaints. There are no 1GB Nvidia cards before the 150, and only the 280 has 1gb in the next range. Lots of memory is a very recent thing with nVidia, and most of the cards more powerful than the minimum requirements do not meet the memory requirements.

Leading to loads of texture and ID3D9 errors in console. This labelling needs to be cleared up properly, minimum spec should be around a nVidia 280 or better, as nothing below it has the memory capacity to deal with this game.

    Appreciate the comment,

    For clarification, I have a IntelC2D @ 2.66 ghz, an nVidia 8800GTS (512mb, but is listed above minimum requirements,) 8 gigs of DDR2, blah blah blah. What your saying is I will be pretty much out of luck until an update or improvement? I plan on over clocking to 3ghz no problem but I definitely HAVE TO upgrade my video card to make the game playable?

    Thanks

    Hrm, I have no problems at all running NS2 with a Radeon 4870 512mb with all settings on high. I think NS2 is way more CPU dependent than GPU dependent.

    I have a 5.0ghz i5 2500k.

    A better GPU will help out with a lower specced CPU

    HD4850 512Mb -> HD5870 1Gb and I can run my CPU on lower speeds while still being able to play (C2D E6420: 3.4Ghz OC -> 2.13Ghz Stock)

    there shouldn't be any problems running on 512mb or even 256 mb cards
