Question about email about preorders

I have 2 questions about the email I (and I'm sure a lot of you) received entitled "Natural Selection 2 pre-order #1 Indie on Steam and thank you gifts!".
Firstly, I do not quite understand the part about the Deluxe edition, is it saying that even though I didn't manage to order it (because it was unavailable by the time I got around to it), my copy will automatically be updated from the standard to Deluxe edition?
Secondly, I ordered a total three copies of the game to the same email address and distributed the keys to some friends, will I be getting three MORE bonus copies or just one?

If you pre-order the game at all, you get the Deluxe edition. It does not matter if you got it on Steam yesterday or a year ago. You and your buddies will all get the Deluxe edition.

Second depends on when you bought it. If you pre-ordered before it went for sale on Steam, then I believe you will get 3 more copies sent to your own email address.
If you bought it on Steam, you will not get any free copies.

True, except if you preordered before it went on Steam, it's 1 extra free copy, not 3.

The preorders were pre-steam, and thank you for the reply.

EDIT: Oh god, which one of the above posts is correct!

If he bought 3 copies before steam, then he will get 3 copies free, no?

This is my question also, and the best guess is every person who has a copy of NS2 that gives them access to the beta (beta keys) will get a free copy.

For instance, I bought 4 copies myself (all pre-steam), and I'm assuming that the 3 people I gave them out too will each be getting a single copy as opposed to me getting an additional 4 copies. Came to this assumption since they are distributing the keys through steam, so it seems they are tracking it by who HAS beta keys instead of who bought them.

Would be nice to have some confirmation ;)

Yes, sorry I didn't read the post well enough. You probably get 3 or 4 free copies, one for each game you bought.

    Thank you for the replies.
Yeah that makes sense, anyone that has a beta key on steam will get a copy added to their steam account to gift away.
