<div class="IPBDescription">Would be better</div>Is there an easy way for me to get access to the sound effect files in NS2? I am sure they are available somehow but I am unsure what this rout is.

This would be useful for our project also. Hi-res artwork would be decent as well.

Short answer is NO. UWE have not released the FMOD project file, so you cannot edit it. Your only option, is to replace bits of audio by renaming them to match exactly the names of the current NS2 files, then squeezing them into a file, but it is a laborious process and not always successful.

Once, (if) UWE release the project file for the sound files, then edits can be made, although this would bring up another issue. If the soundfile was open sourced, it means anyone who has access to the tools of NS2 (everyone) also has access to the soundtrack for NS2, and currently that is being offered as part of the deluxe edition, so I am not entirely sure we will ever be able to edit the NS2 soundfile. Saying that, it is very possible to create your own soundfile project from scratch using FMod, and overwrite it that way.

If you are doing a small NS2 conversion, its a pain in the ass. If you are doing a scratch build mod, then creating your own sound project makes sense...

Ill just record the sounds themselves then via computer output while playing ns2, they don't have to be absolute perfect (just would be easier).

Edit - just realised that my post, though sound-related, was in no way relevant to this thread... please ignore!

Download the <a href="http://www.fmod.org/fmod-downloads.html" target="_blank">FMOD Designer</a>, start the FMOD Event Player and play the sounds through that (make sure you play them at the listener position and stop all other sounds before starting a new one). <strike>There is also a FSB extractor somewhere, but not sure if it works for the NS2 files.</strike>
