Max FPS and Game Engine

1) Is there a way to lock max fps to a specific value?

2) The engine is most similar to which game(s) currently on the market (that is/are popularly being used for benchmarks in CPU and GPU tests)? e.g. Is NS2 most similar to BF3, Crysis, etc.?

Thanks!

    1. Afaik this is hard-coded into the engine. There is no way to set max fps yet.

    2. I'm not sure how to compare engines. It has a deferred renderer like almost all modern games, but I don't know any without pre-baked lighting in maps. In the end though, engines are always going to mostly use very similar techniques because there is simply a "best way" to do a certain thing. Why are you asking anyways?

    Thanks for your reply!

Regarding the engine, I was hoping to gather comparative information as to which CPU/GPU/drivers may most affect NS2 performance (since nobody uses NS2 for benchmarking those components/drivers). For example, if the engine was similar to, say Bordlerands 2, and a review shows such increase in FPS with this card vs that for Borderlands 2, it might help guide me in the right direction for purchasing upgrades and such in the future.

You won't get any such information because CPU doesn't have drivers. Current bottleneck is the CPU.

    But GPUs have drivers??

And yes, but what happens if you have removed the CPU bottleneck? For example, you have an i5-2500k overclocked? But an ATI 3850?

Then comparative information can be useful.
