Free Copy doesnt come with beta?

<div class="IPBDescription">Whats up with that?</div>I just gave my extra copy of NS2 to a friend in hopes that we could play together, i assumed that since every other pre order was allowed beta access this would be too.

Maybe my friend is bugged, but he claims when he tries to install it, it says it still has not been released.

Yeah only the pre-order prior Steam launch was beta access.
Tell him not to worry though, the game will be released next month :P (if all goes well)

I imagine it's so that they don't suddenly have 140,000 people from ebay flooding the game and taking a giant dump on it, bringing up every 3 year old argument about performance/movement/reg and so on. What would you do in their position?
