NS2 Bots - What happend?
<div class="IPBDescription">Where did they go?</div><!--sizeo:3--><span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:100%"><!--/sizeo--><u><b>Onos ate me and jeffco</b></u><!--sizec--></span><!--/sizec-->
Late 2011 and early 2012 saw two people making great progress on the creation of bots for NS2. The bots were very basic, although in a usable condition, and they had been coming along quite quickly. Then all of a sudden everything stopped and these two guys disappeared totally.
The threads in question are here:

What I would really like to know is, has anyone else taken up this project? Is there some discussion on the topic somewhere that I have missed.
Or even better! Has anyone got a working set of bots that they are able to link to?
Thanks Guys

The only results I'd been able to find in previous searches were some discussions about plans for a bot.
It's something I wouldn't mind doing if I had the time but I don't know much about the Natural Selection 2 code and I'm already part-way through making another bot.
As Charlie answered my Question on live cast, there are still planned some major changes which will again broke the bot code/usability.
Do you remember the ancient times, when only gorges was able to make cyst chains? I was creating gorge bot for that ... and now is no needed. Also hydras placement / count was changed and so and so...
be patient, they will come ... soon
i was able to tweak it to get it to work in the most recent built for my purposes (spawn seek destroy). internal use only :)
doing much more than attack, heal, build & trivial movement would have been a waste of effort with all the changes that have happened.
Can't wait for release and full on bot development to commence.
It's mainly to give my girlfriend a chance to get in some practice on NPCs before hitting the servers.
Oh well, give it time I guess. It probably took a while for the first Natural Selection bots to appear.

Could I have a copy of your basic "spawn seek destroy" code please?
Or from anyone for that matter. I'm up for learning how to implement basic AI seek and destroy, just don't know where to start.
As I said earlier, it's just to give my girlfriend a bit of practice before hitting the servers.
Thanks
I have several friends that would like to try the game, but they get discouraged when they're constantly being murdered by better players online before they can even grasp whats going on. (They were turned off of NS1 because of that) Having an AI mod that allows users to get used to the gameplay and the maps while still being provided a decent challenge will hopefully break them in and wet their appetites for online play. (Plus allow for offline gameplay as well)
If you need a tester for the mod, I'd be more than willing to offer my help!
I have a limited knowledge of LUA, and even more limited knowledge of AI programming, so as much as I want to, I wouldn't be of much help with the development of this mod...(Though I would love to learn!) :)
Once the game is released then bot development can continue apace....
