Alrighty, so I spent an hour or so last night chatting with a bunch of people in teamspeak and I have been sold on the Round Robin format. However; there are lots of logistics to work out, this is where you all come in....
I need your Help! Give me clear ideas for what type of round robin format you think will work best for 8 - 16 teams.
The Event is scheduled to take place November 17-18, 2012. Times and such to be discussed once we have rules and bracket concept designed. Please work with me to move this along quickly and smoothly!

Round robin is definitely the best format for NS2. Depending on the size of the tourney you can just split teams into groups.
Those groups could benefit from being regional games.
Thats my two cents.
Good effort, it is appreciated. Even if it doesn't always seem like it.
So for this example, let's say you have 12 teams and wanted to try a RR-12 -> RR-6 -> finals-bo5
You'd go to my link above, # of teams 12, # of pools 3. Play. This RR-12 would be 3 rounds in length (6 halves, ~3 hours). Then you pull out the top 2 from each team and make a second bracket with # of teams 6, # of pools 1. Play. This RR-6 would 5 rounds (~5 hours). Pull out the top two teams and then you play a bo5 finals (1.5 - 2.5 hours). You could do this in one weekend.
The above example is basically a RR version of the Guru tournament (12 teams). The guru tournament will be ~9-11 rounds counting a bo5 as 2 rounds. But counting tie breakers, the guru tournament could run up to 50% longer with a lot of tie breakers.
There are a lot of things you can do with the RR brackets. You have a lot more flexibility than with standard elimination tournaments. Another option with a RR-12 is to split into two groups (maybe NA group and EU group) and then pull out the top 2 teams from each group. Then play a single eliminations semi-finals with top NA vs 2nd EU and top EU vs 2nd NA. Then a finals of the winner of those two previous games. It could create some excitement -- will we have a double euro finals?!?!
You can really tailor these RR brackets to fit any time frame. You can also do some wonky things by using RR to seed into a smaller RR into a finals. Or you can simply have one huge RR where the winner is the team with the best record at the end -- no eliminations.
If you have more specific guidelines for # of teams and time frame (10 hours of play time? or 15 hours of playtime?) then I can think about it some more and hammer out specific ideas.
4v4 RR brackets used to see a 8 person SE tourny (i.e. top two from each RR go into the SE tourny). So, Day 1 would be the RR and day 2 would be the SE final.
That (well, need moar teamsNstuffs) and Wasabi should grow/shape his Mustachio like that :P
What about my casts?
If I cannot get answer in one month, then really.

I would suggest you edit that into the opening post. Not all people read the whole thread. :)
