I am in Berlin... I wonder...
Which teams will compete?
Please enlighten me about the minimum FPS & hardware configuration demands in an arena-style official tournament.
Oh Ma Gerd!!!!!
Cant wait :D
No, unfortunately this is not a stadium or other arena with space for spectators, sorry :( (Maybe one day!!)
Lots of detail to come on this, suffice to say it should be pretty epic :).
No, I kid! This is great. I look forward to watching the tournament, and I'm quite excited to see how everything turns out. Hugh continues to amaze.
NA teams, please step up your game so we can have our own stuff!

Awww :) Don't worry Shaker there is US stuff in the pipe. But I do want to nip this in the bud.
This event is not happening in Europe because we prefer European teams, or because there's 'more EU play 'or 'EU teams are better' or whatever (I certainly don't think that is true). None of that factored in. The reason the event is in Germany is very simple and really will disappoint conspiracy theorists everywhere: ESL have simply been a great partner to work with, and they happen to be EU based.
As a very small studio it is very difficult to get the ear of 'e-sport' organisations to create serious events like this. If you are not LoL, throwing millions of dollars around, many organisations will not even pick up the phone. Once you do get in contact, there are huge operational challenges involved, not to mention tv-studios are not cheap. Remember: UWE is a tiny little team with very little manpower available for organisation of complex events like this. So while there will absolutely be US events, we simply had to take available options and work with an effective partner. In an ideal world, there would be simultaneous events all over the world, or we would offer to fly teams inter-continental to participate in global events.
Maybe if NS2 sells a million copies in our wildest, most aspirational dreams, that can happen. (And I would probably die of happiness.) For now, this is the start of what we hope will be a long, developer supported, community driven, large scale and incredibly fun, and crucially global organised-NS2-play scene.
LET'S DO THIS!
he he he
SOME.
i hope the teams, that will play in the studios will have some selfconfident teamleaders, that can stand the questions in the interviews ...
in my opinion shyness is killing the athmosphere in some liveshows ;)
be selfconfident, if you will be the team, that makes it to the final, cause you did something special
selfconfidence will also be a plus in representing the game ...
that's my opinion ;)
*edit* oh and i hope we can get more then 4 teams to participate in the preelemenation rounds ... i would, if the game would run with more than 15-20 fps on my computer ;)
I have some some curiosities:
-Will it be cast live? Will there be cameras and stuff in there?
-Will the teams play in the same room? How will being able to hear stuff be handled?
-Will you use a real coin instead of a smartphone app? or better yet can the teams play Rock Paper Scissors to decide?
Or even better, Rock-Paper-Scissors-Lizard-Spock!
as far as i know the answers will be
yes
maybe yes, but they will have headsets and voiceprogramms
and yes, if its needed ;)

It looks as though they are sitting right next to each other, instead of each team being in a private room. Umm...
So going to see things flying after a round :=
