I need chuckle back

<div class="IPBDescription">seriously</div>There is no way to keybind chuckle, or to even initiate it with key-commands. This is the most important alien command in the game and it requires at least the option to bind it to something. That or bring back the superior x 1-5 keys for issuing commands. Seriously nobody wants to issue a command with their mouse, that makes moving and shooting impossible.

It's probably an oversight and will be bindable later.

I hope audio commands are fixed for release. Right now heal/medpack and taunt is bound to the same key...

I don't like the mouse command interface either.

Yes, but you can rebind taunt to T like I did.

Now I can spam the cute gorge taunt as much as I want. :3

I trolled the devs about this decision some, I'd rather see the CS implementation like it was before or maybe even the vastly superior BF1942 way of using voice/radio commands. That one has no loss of control at all (mouse or weapon selection keys)

And of course custom binds are a must!

Defiantly shouldn't need to click. If you're going to borrow L4Ds voice menu, don't remove the best thing about it.

The commo rose was pioneered by the BF series I think - and I happen to love it. It needs a bit more polish from its current state, but it removes the need to have a separate keyboard for 35 different binds to request ammo, meds, taunts, issue voice commands, ping the map, request kleenex, etc.

P.S. To OP: Hurr hurr hurr.

Can I perhaps add that the skulk laugh does not sound like a laugh, it sounds like a light clearing of the throat. Great game, that is all.

I was a bit annoyed by it too.

At least the Kharaa taunts are back.

Get rid of the need to click and allow taunts without the comma rose, then it'll be swell. It seems like currently none of the shortcuts to voice commands work.

Mouse gestures can be really great, even in a game like NS2, but their implementation need to be really good. You can test them in some softwares like Opera and Maya, it can be very precise, fast and ergonomic at the same time with only one bind. I am all for it, but they still need a lot of work in their current state :/

A good rose just makes use of movement rather than the mouse, depending on mouse direction.

Also the most used and important commands have a larger degree of movement. So things like 'help me commander' might be given a 40 degree slot say, but taunt would be given maybe 15 degrees.

Honestly i just miss my z and x voice menus....much more efficient in my opionion as it didn't require mouse movement, and didnt interupt your view

Good commo-rose implementation, like in BF2 - allows you to instantly move to the needed voice command with almost no interruption in gameplay. It's precise, quick, doesn't require other keybindings, and lets you communicate a variety of messages.

NS2's new commo-rose is the right idea, but it's flawed in execution. Having it based on mouse movement and not clicking would virtually eliminate the current problems with it - once you know where all the commands are, it almost becomes instinctual.

Have it on mouse scroll bar like ARMA2 commands to AI

Agreed, BF2 had one of the best VGS systems.

Despite having slightly more requests than before (thanks for adding Mist request), did you guys test it with the old command menu before moving on?

I also noticed there's Taunt/Chuckle during gestation and it makes a weird noise.

We need skill-based chuckle. The old chuckle was far too easy to use and was OP.
  • Onii-chanOnii-chan Join Date: 2002-11-05 Member: 7164Members
Every alien needs a different chuckle sound.
But to keep it consistent, just use the default one and change the pitch and tone of it.

So an Onos will have a deep bass chuckle, a Gorge a slightly less deep and the lerk a very high pitched one.

Amen. All you need to do is divide the screen into giant wedges outside the "neutral" center, and track what wedge the mouse was in when the rose button is released.
