72FPS to 6FPS for no reason at all
First, running NS at 1024x768x32, OpenGL, on a P4 1.4GHz with 512MB RAM, VisionTek GeForce 3, Creative Ensoniq AudioPCI Soundcard, and Windows 98SE.
My FPS is always at around 60-72 (cap) even with giant turret farms onscreen, multiple enemies all firing, no matter what happens it's always playable. But sometimes after I play for a while, for no reason at all my FPS will drop down to around 6-16 with horrible sound stutters and crackling, the game is basically unplayable. It stays this way for about 30 seconds, sometimes up to a minute and a half, then it reverts back to normal (72FPS). After it happens once, it comes back every 10 minutes or so until I quit. Even if I just sit in base looking at a wall, it will still drop down to 6FPS like clockwork, then it goes back to 72 after a minute or two. This never happens with CS, DoD, other HL mods, or any other games, it's getting very annoying having to quit and restart every hour or two...
