server bandwidth

trying to sort out a dedicated NS2 server in NZ as a few friends and I play regularly on Aussie servers with ~ 80 ping and would be nice to get that down to 20-40

quick question on server bandwidth requirements --- 8-10Mbps UP, 60 down, enough for a single 18-24 player server?

anyone have the stats of how much bandwidth is actually used in a 20~ player server currently?

    I'm running the Team156 Seattle Servers off my residential connection that has a similar speed to your connection:

    I measured bandwidth and data usage over about 6 hours with one of the 20 player servers at full capacity and got the following average per hour:
    DL Rate = 83 KB/s
    UL Rate = 163 KB/s
    DL Vol = 293 MB/hr
    UL Vol = 573 MB/hr

    An update since I have more data (on four full 20 player servers) from release night:
    All Four Servers:
    DL Rate = 232 KB/s
    UL Rate = 696 KB/s
    DL Vol = 815 MB/hr
    UL Vol = 2447 MB/hr

    Per Server:
    DL Rate = 58 KB/s
    UL Rate = 174 KB/s
    DL Vol = 204 MB/hr
    UL Vol = 612 MB/hr

    Hey Scubbo, I'm running 3x 16 slot servers from my residential connection in Sydney which has a slower download and upload rate to you. I can confirm I'm also getting very similar data usage figures to ScardyBob.

    Connection: VDSL2 (profile 17A) sync at 25mbit down, 7mbit up.
    With your connection, you should have no trouble at all.
