Won't even open!

Alright, the engine test ran fine for me but I never bothered with the alphas or betas just because I wanted to keep it a surprise until the very end.
I've tried redownloading twice and validating to no avail.

When I start it from within Steam, nothing happens.
My status'll say I'm playing it for about a second and then go away.

When I start from the game folder I get this error

Specs:
AMD Athlon 2800+ 2.4ghz
HD4650 1gb
2gb ram
Win XP SP 3

I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume that you guys added a requirement for SSE2, right? :/

    Many XP users have trouble running the game. Most players are on Win7 x64 :/

    Natural Selection 2 Minimum Requirements

    OS:Windows 7 32/64-bit / Vista 32/64 / XP
    Processor:Core 2 Duo 2.6 ghz
    Memory:1GB for XP / 2GB for Vista/7
    Graphics:DirectX 9 compatible video card with 1GB, ATI X800, NVidia 8600 or better

    You will need to upgrade your CPU, I think. NS2 needs a dual core CPU, at a minimum.

    Ah yeah that figures, I didn't even bother to look at the system reqs afterwards.

    I just figured since the engine test ran perfectly fine that I'd be able to play the game.
    Guess not...
