Hl Crashing Suddenly

At any random time during an NS game the computer will freeze and there is nothing to do other then comm,alt,delete to force quit hl. Once i press on Hl to close I get the message:
"Hl
Anerror has accured in your program. To keep working anyway,click ignore and save your work in a new file. To quit this program,click close. You will lose information you entered since your last save."
Only prob is the mouse has frozen too and the message box is defaulted on close rather than ignore and nothing i can do about it so I click enter for close. Then another window pops up:
"Hl
The prograkm has performed an illegal operation and will shutdown...blah,blah,blah..."
The mouse is frozen on this window too. I press close again and I am now brought back to the desktop with a frozen mouse and have to manually reboot.
The last time I froze I had just gestated into a fade in a vent but this has nothing to do with it, just shows that its random. Sometimes I won't even freeze but go directly to the Hl error. I have not had this problem with anyother mod and have had HL since it game out and never had this prob. I noticed the problems shortly after I installed the bot program but I don't want to keep accusing peoples programs of causing stuff. I have done a complete reinstall of HL and All my mods and still with no luck.
My comp is pentium 4-1.4 ghz
windows 98
radeon pci 32mb sd
sound card ?
128 ram
I donot have any unnecessary programs running in the backround and my system resources are at 93% with fresh discscan and defrag , I'm not sure if that does anything besides make my comp faster. Ug! I'm going crazy!
