Major Bugs making the game unplayable

Hello,

My name is Joe and the game barely works for me. I'm very excited to play but am having major issues. Here is my relevant data.

<u><b>My Rig</b></u>
AMD Phenom 9850 Quad Core processor.
Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT.
3.00 GB of RAM.
Windows 7.

<u><b>My problems</b></u>
1. The game crashes fairly often, about once per game. Often it crashes during the pre-caching phase.
2. The game randomly misses texture files. It will have the texture file for being hurt as a marine one game and then a checkerboard pattern the next.

<u><b>My Steps</b></u>
1. I validated the install through STEAM.
2. I uninstalled, deleted the cache folder in APPDATA, and reinstalled.
3. I updated my graphics driver.
4. I turned down my graphic settings to medium and removed fancy things.

    As a note, the 8800 graphics card that I have has 1 gig of video memory.

    Try deleting your shaders folder in steamapps\common\natural selection 2\<b>ns2</b>\ (note its in \ns2\ NOT \core\)

    Then verify your game cache files.

    Thanks, Zaggy. I didn't know if my issue was the 'precaching issue' they spoke about (I saw their twitter post) or if my issue was unique. No one else on other servers seemed to be experiencing this when I asked.

    Alright. I didn't experience any texture loss, lag, or normal issues but I did still crash. This time with a windows "ns2.exe is not working" error. The log file was this:

    I've never seen that error before. Try deleting the models folder in the same directory I mentioned above and then reverify your game cache.

    all happens while precaching, right? It is all related, I got all these errors randomly. invalid format, cannot open file, colission problem, phsx problem, they all happen on precache.

    I think everything is related.

    No, I am not receiving any errors anylonger during the precache phase. I am also not receive any missing textures. My game is now just crashing to desktop with a 'ns2.exe' stop working error.

    Hi everyone,

    First things first : congrats to the NS2 dev team, you really did a great work ! Thanks from a NS1 Fan.



    Then, I was just about to say I have the exact same problem.

    I tried a full uninstall/reinstall, but I still have missing files loading problems. It happen only since the build 227. I'll try the delete files/game cache check trick and tell you if it work.

    Also, before this problem, I noticed crashes after 1 hour of gaming, or so, since build 225. It was always happening, no exception, as marine, as alien and on any map.
    I never had this before 225. I was thinking of some kind of memory leak. But since my computer is not the most powerfull, I was not thinking about boring you with this.

    My computer is a 2Ghz Dual core2, with Radeon HD 4500/5100 and 4 gb Ram.
    Just enought to run the game... until now, but well, it happen.

    Did you try:

    Go to library
    Right click on NS2
    Click Properties
    Click Local Files
    Click Check integrity of game cache

    Post the results.

    My FPS jumped from 30 fps (abnormal) to 70 fps (normal) when I did this. Also, I now cannot find servers on the server tab. Lol.

    It deleted my response. I went in-game with streaming textures and everything was fine until I joined marines. I spawned, walked off the platform and all my textures (everything) went checkerboard then crashed to desktop. The log file on this is so large that it wont let me post it here.

    ^^ i have noted that I received the same message "out of video memory" before at least one of the crashes.. I've also tried setting physx to only cpu, as well as only gtx card... still crashes.

    Just wanna say I'm having the exact same problem. This problem has not occurred in any of the previous builds up to now (except for the checkerboards which used to happen sometimes), only the release build.
    Usually it crashes on precaching, but if I do get into a game, looks like this:

    Crashes a few seconds later.
