Does the GPU have 1 gb ram minimum ? With my AMD 4870x2 (dual) 1 GB ram i had 15-30 FPS Max
Now with the 7970 GHz edition i have 40-80 fps with all max out in 1920x1080

waiting for render thread 7ms...
it means that your gpu is waiting for the cpu to make all the calculations.
This game needs a beast of a cpu to run great and your old i5 is not fast enough im afraid

56ms waiting on GPU.

Perhaps try to lower your resolution, I personally play at 800*600. The resolution impact greatly the performances.

I think in this case that the GPU is the problem

Turn down your resolution.

Thats definitely your low end latptop video card that's not meant for FPS gaming.

"The performance of the GT 320M is nearly on a level of the old GeForce 9600M GT (altough the 9600M GT features 32 shaders)."

Note that this list is not the high performance list but the "medium" and your card still doesnt fare well:
http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/video_lo...20M&id=1175
Another reference point is the score for that video card is "291" and the latest video card the 680 scores "5,450" which is nearly 20x faster.
:-/

But my GPU is above the minimum reqs of the game... I've played BF3 and MW3 on this laptop at low details. I can't believe I cant play this game.

EDIT: My laptop is not overheated. Maybe is something I can do on the Nvidia control panel?

Well you can try to open the control panel and select ns2.exe and ensure that its set to HIGH PERFORMANCE... but after that you're kind of limited by the performance of the actual card.

MW3 is using a heavily modified Quake 3 engine released in 1999 that was already based off of previous engines and written with practically an unlimited budget and john carmack.
Considering that you have to run the game in LOW settings is a good indicator of why you cannot run this well, i'm sorry. :-/
BF3's frostbite engine is in a similar boat, but slightly more modern.

Im playing on marine's side at 1024*768. Seems that playing alien need more CPU/GPU.

Hope it get fixed/code depurated by time.

Hey guys!

QUOTE

Help UWE with below:

For those wishing simply to contribute to performance in ns2 , possibly helping the cause of your slow downs for everyone down the road yet without an immediate fix for you personally... Please submit a performance log of the most polarizing instance of fps drop by typing p_logall to create a round long log of your performance. The log is saved in your %appdata% folder (Ctrl+R, fill in %appdata%, hit enter, browse to Natural Selection 2, find client-<number>-<number>.plog) at the end of a round or exit and you can zip it up and link it

But I'm having troubles trying to unzip with 7zip the log, whos extension is *.plog

Not getting above 20 fps in combat even I lowered resolution and turned to "high" ns2 priority CPU.

2.26ghz. end of story.

With 3.6ghz I have 55¬60fps average, which sometimes goes to 40 (can't really track all the fps changes, but I don't experience Lag issues at all though). Everything on low =)
And as previously stated - graphics card is an issue as well.
