what does it mean?
Ok been playing with manageable lag but when this little ethernet connector red symbol shows up I just plummet in performance. So anyone know what to do because my internet is connected and nothing else is running so all my cpu is devoted to NS2. So whats up...?

What this *might* be is the east coast being covered in water, currently.. i noticed yesterday connecting to west coast servers was fine, but over seas (which were previously fine for the past 2 years) would have the red plug icon occur despite low latency of 200 etc.

Click picture for net_stats info cheers
post the full resolution picture you have on something like Imgur.com and then paste the "message board" or "direct" link here.
Again though, this might be because a good portion of the east coast is under water/stormed in and datacenters are down.
Sit tight for more info
edit: does it resume after this? meaning can you or anyone else connected to the server play? It looks as if the server went down / crashed.
I.e. is this just a timeout from a server crashing or are you the only one who is crashing and the server and players remain?
found it, wait

If your having connection problems please try this fix:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8YiopTocPk
Also, if you are a sky customer - you may have an issue with your modem.router firmware version which stops you from connecting.
This doesn't answer the question i asked tho :-/
I need someone who is getting this to verify that the server still remains online and with the same people playing. Have a buddy that has it working? test with them or use nano grid to check if the server is still up with players.
Basically need someone to confirm that when this happens it is not that individual server crashing, that it is infact client side.
Thanks

Also, i personally dont have this happen to me other than one server that was over seas.

It's a good video, but a bunch of us are unable to use it - my BTHomehub is a "mark A" and it won't let me use port 23 for Telnet. I've tried going through a guide to allow my hub to allow telnet, but I get the same error: can't connect to port 23. The effort you put into making it's appreciated though.
i get disconnected after 10 seconds or so after joining ANY server. And yes the server remains up afterwards with players on it, i have checked this on the external server browser.
I cannot use the fix that was posted becuase i cannot connect to the hub via telnet either.
I have reinstalled, patched, verified number of times and this is still a problem.
However before the game was released i had NO issues whatsoever could play on any server...

if you go to steam - view - settings and downloads + cloud set your connection to the correct value and drop your game server browser : max pings/ minute to say 1500
this fixed my disconnection issue but unfortunately my server list in game has disappeared, so im now using the external browser one...
