AVP2 (2001) -mod

Bring the awesomeness back!
I had to register to the forums just to say this: We need a mod where the aliens are Xenomorphs from the AVP2 (2001) game.
I know many of you older players have played the game.
YouTube
Bring back the headbite ability, the motiontracker for marines and the sound effects for aliens.
NS2 already has maps that would suit very well the AVP2 gameplay. All we need is new models, animations, sounds and some code for the weapons and the 'Survival' gamemode. Predators won't be needed - Just Aliens vs Marines.
There won't be any legal issues if all assets will be built from scratch.

Why not?
Why would there?
If the mod resembles Aliens only audiovisually, and is not a commercial product, I don't see any problems.

Isnt a new aliens game (focussed on marines) coming out soon? Sounds like a cease and desist letter waiting to happen
It doesn't really have the same scope in mind I don't think, there's only 8 person multiplayer iirc.
Also, this mod could be done, not talking about the legal issues here although I'm sure it's not a problem. Replace the infestation with alien weeds, the current aliens with xenomorph aliens. Something would need to be done about spawning though. Maybe have the ability to capture marines alive and facehug them.
This will not happen, the Aliens and Predator franchises are so closely guarded, that if you try and design anything close in a computer game, they will act. This is a waste of time, you won't get anywhere with this before being stopped.
Just be unique and original, come up with your own mod/concept, rather than trying to remake old games directly in the engine. Create some unique IP for your mod, like NS did. I mean, who knows what could come from it....

This pretty much says it all, why do you think with all the Alien fans out there no one made a mod yet? even if they did they prolly got a message from the IP owner telling them that they can't share it or any videos or screenshots of it.
Now let the IP owner keep killing it with every new game untill they can't make money off of it and sell the rights to someone with brains, I wish they prove me wrong with the upcoming game but in all honesty I can't see it happen.
Are there any sources for any cease and desist letter? Otherwise it's just silly rumours.

Decided to post this if anyone decides to take up the challenge and do some Colonial Marines reskin.

I'm having trouble putting files on Workshop though. Can anyone help me?

It's called "Colonial Marines" and please let me take a Smartgun to your hopes:

Those developers are oozing with indifference towards the source material. They are just doing another of those Call of Duty jobs...
If your hopes somehow survived my first barrage, here comes the finisher because Ridley Scoot himself doesn't seem to understand his own creation:

To the OP, there's a reason why many older modders shudder when they hear the word "Foxed".

Fairly recently alot of total conversion mods, heavily into development, have been ordered to stop by their brand owner.
One I can think off the top of my head is a Lord of the Rings total conversion, I think for skyrim, that got told to stop. People theory-crafted that a game similar to the mod was in development, so didn't want competition.
It's not often that a mod is canned directly due to a competing release. Only one I can really recall was a Terminator mod that got politely asked by Atari to C&D because they were coming out with War of the Machines.
In hindsight, even the most amateurly made mod would have destroyed WotM....
There seems to be a common misconception that if it doesn't make money then it's ok. Wrong. If it has the potential to take money away from the copyright holder then it's infringement. If NS2 with Aliens would take even one cent from, say, Aliens: Colonial Marines then you'd see the Aliens mod canned and erased.
