<div class="IPBDescription">It really is.</div> I've been going through the forums for about a week now, and it's truely amusing that the people that truely need to read this stuff....won't read it. There should be a test of some form to join servers; or maybe I'm just bitter about my stunning defeat at the hands of incompetent platoon mates that think they're God and can take on two Fades or even two Skulks by themselves. It's pretty simple, follow the commanders orders, and if he won't/can't command, that's why there's an eject vote. By now however, most commanders are competent enough to survive the first wave of Skulk rushes and set up a decent defense and a secondary base. As somone mentioned earlier, the only reason the Aliens seem so "unbalanced" is beacause of marines inablity to follow orders. I think we've all played Cstrike a bit to long and have gotten used to occasionally following team mates, but always knowing that there's no ONE person in command. And one can still be successfull at Cstrike as a lone gun man. If you try that as a marine, your gonna get your **obscenity** handed to you on a silver platter.
On a side note, commanders; trust your marines, they are the ones out on the front, they're the ones that are playing pawns and knights in this fast paced chess match on crack, use them as such. Organize them, congratulate them, give positive criticism, get to know them; but don't be afraid to throw them into action, that's why there's Infantry Spawns and Phase Portals. A marine makes it through a harrowing firefight alive; congratulate him and keep his spirits up by telling him ur sending support ASAP. In the mean time...send support, chances are if u just had a major firefight there's gonna be some marines respawning/gathering ammo, give them waypoints back to help out there fellow marine(s).
The biggest thing I've noticed that alot of commanders lack, is keeping moral up. We're all used to Cstrike, where if things got bad, they were gonna stay bad unless you had some hoss on your team w/ a kill/death ratio over 2.5. In NS most games take 30mins-1hour or more. It's just like a chess game, which means if you get nailed down somewhere or pushed back out of the hive, YOU STILL HAVE TO GATHER YOURSELF AND MOVE ON. More times then I can or want to count, I'll here/see "They've got Fades!" or "Here comes an Onos!" Allmost always followed with, "Well, we're dead!" or "Good while it lasted!" Think about it first thing anyone does as an alien when they get that third hive built is go Onos if they have the resources, that means that the newest Hive is porbably the weakest link, which means it should be ATTACKED. Same goes for Fades and that secnd hive. Granted if you had gotten that thrid hive for yourself to begin with and set up some serious fortifiactions, it wouldn't be an issue.
Oh well, enough ranting. Marines, trust your commanders. Commanders, trust your marines. Sorry for wasting space on the general discussion board. Fell free to move this if it goes better somewhere else.
