Is Explore mode the same as real game?

I used the Explore mode to see what commanding is like, but it's so different from the real games.... is it the same? I mean I know that in Explore mode things are built much faster so you don't have to just wait, obviously, but things like, on the Alien side, the Shade building can create Phantom units to fool marines? I never knew that was possible, I've never seen it ever used. Also you can create these Bone Spikes which don't last very long, but maybe they do some damage? And you can also make a Drifter which cloaks itself and can release this Enzyme gas around itself to make all aliens attack faster. And Whips! You can uproot them and move them around and even upgrade them to do damage to marine's Armour?

Then on the Human side there's Macs that build things, and you can give them EMP to drain alien's energy, and you can also make Arcs that are like mobile siege turrets from NS1. And you can give marines this Nano-shield like a medpack to make them take less damage... and you can even drop weapons for marines (which was the way to give new weapons in NS1, but in NS2 I thought you only can buy it yourself).

Why don't I see any of this in real games when I play with other people? I see SO many useful ways to utilize all these abilities but never seen them. Do they only exist in Explore mode?

They are all in the game. You have not seen a lot of these because the game has only been out a few days for most players and the new commanders are still learning the tools they have available.

I love this post. It's like he's asking,

"OMG This game is so good, there's so many ways to play it, why is everyone being so stupid and not playing this awesome game?!"

    Soon my friend, soon.

I love hallucinating skulks to screw with Exos when my units attack. If you have the kind of late-game res to upgrade the Shade, the Skulks themselves only cost 1 Tres each. That's an insane steal.

Probably cause it's usually as effective as giving people eggs or putting up crags
