    This is a headset recommendation (the mic on them is terrible)-


    I would highly recommend <a href="http://www.amazon.com/ARCTIC-Sound-ORACO-ERM22-GBA01-Headphones-Black/dp/B004GGNOJI/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1352234951&sr=1-1&keywords=arctic+p531" target="_blank">Arctic P531's</a>. They are true 5.1 surround sound and they are awesome for the price ( $48 ). The initial setup can be a little confusing (they need to have specific drivers and software settings setup correctly, they can also be a bit picky with which USB port they are plugged into), but once you get past that it took me about a week to get used to wearing them and now they are decently comfortable and the sound quality is pretty awesome (they work great for music too). The software can be configured in a lot of different ways with custom equalizer profiles too which is a plus.

    Only ###### thing as mentioned above is that the microphone on them really sucks, I still use my stand-alone logitech mic.

    If you've already got a good set of headphones (I have a nice set of circumaural Sennheisers) and you play in a relatively quiet environment, a high-end desktop mic can work well too. I use this:

    It's not cheap, but it's pretty darned high quality (reasonably directional with decent noise cancelling), nothing at all like the desktop boom mics from the NS1 era that everybody had :)

    I like the glowing mute button; if the button is lit up, you're "live", if the button is extinguished, you're muted. Might seem like a silly thing to like, but it's neat :)

    Personally I'd recommend against 5.1 headsets, it's a lot of features though for a headset, added.

    I am using somthing like <img src="http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/31nmfU4EdSL._AA160_.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />. It would be nice if I could select which communication device I want to use for send/receive ingame voice.
    Right now I can hardly understand other people via ingame voice through my speakers ( turning down the effects volume is one way to fix that but not the prefered one).
    I would like to use my headset for ingame communication only ( the way i do it with TS3)

    Neat, I use something like that as a phone headset at work, if only wifi stereo phone headsets were affordable!

    I have a recommendation to make too! Seeing the Superlux HMD-660E in the OP's selection is a good start, yet I prefer headphones + mic. So my recommendation is the Superlux HD668B. It offers INCREDIBLE value!
    It's ridiculously cheap (~25€) and received praise all over the internet, from pros and users alike. The only modification that has to be made (sooner or later), is to exchange the default ear pads (plasticy fake leather) with velour pads (around another 15€)

    From what I <a href="http://www.innerfidelity.com/content/superlux-hd-668b-and-hd-681-headphones-page-2" target="_blank">read </a> they sound good but the higher sounds are harsh.

    edit: I noticed they have a rated impedance of about 56 Ohms, so they would require an amp as the average soundcard/onboard sound can drive up to 32 Ohms I think?

    I'm using the Corsair Vengeance 1500. They feel great, the mic sounds great, and the sound for the most part is great. My only beef with the sound is that it's either difficult or impossible to distinguish a sound coming from in front of you or coming from behind you. Granted common sense would say if you're hearing something in that situation and not seeing anything, chances are it's behind you.

    I hate to bash them because their products are real good(I use a Corsair K90 and an M60, RAM and PSU also but that's internal), but reliability has been absolutely awful in terms of brand performance for their external products... my RAM and PSU are still going almost 3 years strong with no issue. The only other brand I've had this many products from is Logitech and Logitech stuff for me has been reliable for the most part. I've had to send back my first Corsair K90 because it wasn't working correctly out of the box, and now after a year or so the headphone cord connection is weakening and I may have to attempt to open it up and fix it myself as apparently the only thing I would need to fix is the soldering of the wires. That's a reasonable repair job for someone inexperienced and I happen to have the tools in the apartment.

    I think most Razer products are garbage, but I have the <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Razer-Carcharias-Gaming-Headset-Black/dp/B001PTH0VW/ref=pd_sim_e_1" target="_blank">Razer Carcharias</a> and it has held up well, feels comfortable, and has a great mic/sound.

    I just recommend getting an actual microphone (mine is a blue snowball) because eventually the microphone in headsets starts going bad (like mine did) but the sound will usually remain fine. I also prefer wireless because the wiring in the connection can't come loose, so I use a turtlebeach px3 for hearing (I use to use the mic on it but I stopped after it messed up a lot).

    I use a Logitech G35. I was initially a little hesitant to spend € 85 on a headset (though they seem to be more expensive now), but it has paid off. Good quality sound, comfortable to wear and pretty durable - I've had this pair for two years and it's still in great condition. The only thing is that the mic squeaks when you flip it aside in order to mute it, but I can live with that.

    My headset uses a charging coord that connects to the transmitter. At most there might be 3-10 MS of delay, but I can never notice anything, even as I sometimes unplug it and walk around my house listening to music with it. Just try to elevate the transmitter for the headset, I suggest, but that's mainly for helping to be able to use it throughout the house. I can't speak for my knowledge of wireless headsets well, but I do suggest that you try to make sure you can just charge it, rather than use batteries (I don't think a headset would use batteries honestly, because that would shift weight onto the headset unnecessarily)

    I 100% agree with OPs recommendation of the AKGs. I am a bit of an audiophile myself and have tried many different headsets. I currently use a pair of AKG Q701s with a fairly pricey amp and love it. I also use the Astros A40 for LANs. As far as gaming is concerned, the only pair of cans that beats these in positioning detail is the Senns HD800s (but those cost 7 times as much).
