First off, I have to say that I'm very much enjoying NS2. I played NS1 back when it first came out when I'd be at a friend's house since I did not own HL at the time. Needless to say I was very pleased to hear of NS2, though I wish I had known about it before a couple days before release, but alas it was not to be.. better late than never though!
Anyways, to the point.. I have a huge problem with getting lost in the maps right now. I have to have the map overlay up to navigate anywhere, which does make it extremely frustrating, especially after I get lost while fleeing as a skulk (I often flee and oh look marine base.. oops). I was wondering if there's a way to get the map overlay images, with the segment names labeled so that I can sit down with them and start studying them in that fashion. I know I've very much frustrated my teammates when I'd be sitting still for a bit because I'm consulting the amp to figure out just where the heck I am now.

Neither has the NS2 wiki ... I guess that means this is the next community project.
QUICK! To the hamster wheels!
Best I can offer you atm is screenshots ...
I wonder if the folks at unknownworlds would be so kind as to release hirez topos of their maps? (wink, wink, nudge, nudge)
At any rate, I'm contemplating translating these into vector maps so I can print them out and hang them on my wall for quick reference.
If I decide to bite that bullet I'll be happy to post my results here ...
Hope these help get your beak wet :

Not only will you learn the map like that, it also shows you very important information about what is going on across the map. Information you can relay to your team and commander for the RTS part of the game :)
Learning the maps and more importantly learning the vent system is a very important part of the game. Not only will you know about quick escape routes and potential cover as aliens, but also about where the aliens will come from as marines.
