Onos attacking through Generator's bridge

I just played a game where I was in the map "Ducking" (the one with Courtyard, Departure, Cafeteria, Bar), and I had a jetpack. I tried to kite an onos in Generator's room (they had a hive, an onos was after me). I decided to go on the metal bridge, near the hive, but on the opposite site of the broke part of the bridge; that way the onos needed to do a big detour to get me.
The onos went under me, and attacked me full damage. I was surprised.
I don't know if this is a bug or not; but I believe doing a "Traceray" on an attack isn't that hard between 2 entity :/.
If it is a feature for a melee unit to hit through floor (or bridge well) just tell me and I'll gt*o <.<.
